Orton's Arm Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 The Cowboys offense is sinking fast, mainly because opposing defenses are able to take advantage of Bledsoe's lack of mobility and tendency to hold the football too long in the pocket. The Chiefs will take their turn this week. In fairness to Bledsoe, he has been victimized by an offensive line that lacks experience outside and overall athleticism. Vic Carucci article At least this is a new situation for Bledsoe!
Ray Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Again---it's the offensive line! Funny thing how Tom Brady who had never played a down in the NFL took that same OL to a SB championship. How come you never heard about the bad OL play once Brady started?
VABills Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Yeah it's real easy to forget that he is missing his probowl left tackle and they are starting a rookie right tackle. And there stud running back has decided that fumbling, dancing andfighting with the coach is more fun then actually playing. But go ahead if it makes you feel better and blame Bledsoe for everything.

I'm not one of those guys who blames Bledsoe for everything. In fact, I think he can be a great QB under the right circumstances. But he does take a lot longer than Brady to read the field, and he's too likely to lock into one particular receiver.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 The cowboys oline has been attrocious since Flozell Adams went out with an injury. It's kind of sad when Larry Allen is still your best linemen after all these years in the league. Marco Rivera has been a huge bust for them. They're starting a rookie and a undrafted free agent at the tackle positions, the interior is pretty bad as well. It's probably about as bad as the current state of our offensive line. Their run blocking is a little worse though
Orton's Arm Posted December 10, 2005 Author Posted December 10, 2005 It's probably about as bad as the current state of our offensive line. That's going pretty far.
Mark VI Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Yup, It's never Drew. It's always the OL not giving him 9-12 seconds to throw, Injuries, bad RB's,bad TE's,bad WR's,bad OC and a bad HC. Always That he's shown the same pattern multiple times with 3 teams is pure coincidence.

What they fail to realize is that ANY starting QB with time to throw is productive/good. What seperates the truely good QBs and the also rans is being able to make quick decisions and be accurate even if they don't get 4 seconds to throw.

MDH Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 If you have an immobile QB you are always one o-line injury away from disaster. 527332 The "immobile" thing is overplayed. Mobility doesn't really matter, it's being aware of or sensing the rush and being able to step forward or slide sideways to avoid it. Marino was a statue but the guy knew how to avoid pressure.

A quarterback also needs to know when to get rid of the ball in a hurry. Sometimes the deep pass isn't there, and you need to take the dump-off. Quarterbacks like Brady and Holcomb are good at doing this, though Brady is the better of the two.

Poor guy...Some evil Football witch put the Malocchio on him...
Tcali Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 If you have an immobile QB you are always one o-line injury away from disaster. 527332 very true. although if you have an immobile QB with a lightning fast release(Marino) you could still be OK.
Alaska Darin Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 very true. although if you have an immobile QB with a lightning fast release(Marino) you could still be OK. 527447 Marino is the contrarian example and I'm not so sure that with today's defenses and salary cap restrictions he'd have been nearly as successful.
