BuffOrange Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 He's actually only won one CG. He was 20 of 33 for 178 yards had no TDs 1 Interception in a game where the only offensive TD scored was on a drive set up by the defense at the Jags 4 yard line. Martin ran it in on consecutive runs. Bledsoe didn't even have a thing to do with those points. 526330 One of my favorite ongoing skits on this board - DB apologists bring up 96 because they can't cling to anything else. Somebody who knows the actual facts points out that DB actually did NOTHING in the '96 playoffs (his best postseason BY FAR - lets not even mention 94 or 97) and Drew apologists ignore it every time because not even the greatest spin doctors in the world can counter it. Funny stuff.
Mark VI Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Bledsoe has some good numbers, but is no HOF QB. 526370 Precisely
Rico Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I have no idea what you mean by this John. Imo it is WAY tougher in baseball to enter the hall. Last week, Drew passed Jim Kelly in touchdown passes, and is inching closer to Fouts in total yards. Imo, this conversation is premature. 526379 Baseball HOF is stats-driven, NFL HOF is not.
Lori Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Krieg IIRC leads the NFL in all-time fumbles, and Vinny has never led his team to a SB, much less won 2 AFCCG's. Like I said, it probably won't be 1st ballot, or even 2nd ballot, but he'll get in. 526337 Phil Simms? Ken Stabler? Bledsoe will get some votes, but his stats alone won't be enough to elect him. IMHO, he needs a ring, and the one he got for XXXVI counts about as much as the one Bernie Kosar got with Dallas.
HopsGuy Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Baseball HOF is stats-driven, NFL HOF is not. 526389 Then why the hell am I keeping track of all these Bruschi "hits"?

While you are probably right, I offer that if Drew continues to play at or near his currnet level for 3 years, his stats will be stunning. I am talking about Elway stats. Again, I am not trying to argue with you , but I know that you love stats. Drew may have some stats that are SO good, he will be tough to turn away. It IS at least possible, no?
Rico Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Then why the hell am I keeping track of all these Bruschi "hits"? 526463 Because it's Bruschi. Though I think he'll fall short, he has a much better chance of making the HOF than Drew.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Bledsoe is 89-88 as a starter, including playoffs. This is all you need to see, bitches. No way Drew is in the HOF. NO EFFING WAY. He's got big numbers, yes, but so did Rafael Palmeiro. Amazing what you can pile up when you play forever.

tennesseeboy Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I like Bledsoe, still think he's a good quarterback...but even I don't think he's hall of fame material.

It IS at least possible, no? 526467 If you look at the HOF ballot for this year and the last few years.... not only will he *not* be tough to turn away. It will be easy. Great guy, but nobody has ever mistaken him for being one of the Top QB's in the League in any year..... let alone *all time*. JDG
Moose Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Bledsoe never scared me... ... until he played for US!
KD in CA Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Bledsoe never scared me...... until he played for US! 526525 That pretty much sums it up!
Lori Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Hi Lori! 526467 Hey, it worked for Marino..... Elway numbers, perhaps, but not the Elway image that goes with it. Remember who Denver's RBs were back when they were going to Super Bowls in the '80s? Not many people do. And while the 'Three Amigo' WRs got some publicity, most non-Denver fans would be just as hard-pressed to name more than one or two of them. When I think of those Bronco teams, I think of Elway literally carrying that franchise on his shoulders - probably farther than they should have gone, based on the non-competitive outcomes of those Super Bowls. On the other hand, when Drew Bledsoe's one Super Bowl season as a starting QB is examined more closely, the lion's share of the credit will probably go to Curtis Martin... who is a first-ballot lock. Just my opinion.
ATBNG Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 You got to think that some of those folks with HOF votes will have seen him play a few games here and there. Also, consider that he's been cut and he's been benched (sort of) on separate occasions. Even projecting these two or three more years of "numbers," that shouldn't happen to a Hall of Fame quarterback ostensibly in his prime. Any analysis of Drew's career that extends beyond the superficial will result in the voter downgrading what he has accomplished (assuming nothing changes).
Tcali Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 That pretty much sums it up for me. People forget that Drew was 2-0 in AFC Championship games. That his numbers compare favorably with Fouts is like saying that Mickey Morandini hit more HRs than "Home Run" Baker, so he should be in the HOF. At one time, Danny White was the all-time pass rating leader. 526181 Mentioning FOUTS and BLEDSOE in the same sentence RE: football prowess...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
