I thought it was OK t oown teams in different sports if in the same city. So Golisano would be OK, Jacobs NG!

Correct me if im wrong but, I believe if you own an nhl team you are not allowed to own a franchise from another sport, thus ruling out jacobs and golisano. I could be wrong but that's what I thought.

I'm still pissed at Bob Rich for that blank check waving charade at the owners meeting many moons ago, when he led everyone to believe that he was going to bring MLB to Buffalo.

In hind sight that was the smartest thing he ever did, MLB is a money losing black hole for small markets and if you don't like losing with the bills you certainly wouldn't like losing for 20 or thirty years straight in MLB....

I think it will all go to Ralph's daughter.

I thought both of RW's daughters have gone on record in the past, saying that they have no interest in owning the team?

Sometimes I wonder though...if small market teams like KC and PIT have been losing money for all these years, why do the owners not move them to another city or sell the teams? Maybe it's because they are not in as bad a shape finacially as perceived.

Of course, Golisano bought a team in a league headed for a labor dispute and lockout.  Who in their right mind would do anything in that situation?

So true.

TG was being a smart businessman. Why do anything until the smoke settles... and see how everything plays out.

Where else are they gonna move them? Both KC and PITT do have championships within the last 30 years.

Not to get off on a tangent, more different teams have won it all in baseball than football in recent years (last 30). Doesn't that say something? Teams can still "bring it home."

I believe the cross ownership is an NFL rule. For a long period of time, the same ownership group owned the Atlanta Thrashers and Atlanta Hawks.

When the rule came into being, Mr. Blockbuster had to sell the Marlins to comply with the new rule thus keeping the Dolphins.

As far as a new Bills owner goes, there is really no easy answer. I cannot see Rich owning them. Jacobs isn't a good fit, and there is no way in hell I would want to see Larry Quinn having his hands involved with the Bills. That would happen if Gollisano bought the team.

I said other but I have no idea whom.

The team will likely cost the new owner between $500 and $600 million to buy, which is chep as NFL teams goe.  Maybe it will be slightly lower but doubtful espically if the new owner isn't willing to sign a tougher lease agreement.

It will likely be someone outside of WNY that buys the team and hopefully they are willing to try to keep them in town.  Otherwise, LA here comes the Bills.

Last I knew the net worth of the Bills organization was 708 million. so I'm assuming that if Ralph's daughter decides not to hold on to the team herself, she'll sell it for anywhere between 650 and 750 million. My guess is that if the team is sold it will be to someone from outside of WNY and that could be trouble for the Bills in Buffalo.

Not that Buffalo is a bad football town, because I can't think of a better one, but the fact that the economy in Western NY is less than ideal. As much as I hate to say or even think it, the economy needs to take a major upswing in the next 10 years if we are to retain the Bills.

The new owner will be Mark Hamister.  He'll move the team to the Canadian side of the Peace Bridge, and the Canadian gov't will build a new stadium complex complete with a casino and Canadian ballet.

That's the funniest thing I've heard yet.

Canada will get its first franchise as soon as it becomes a state in the United States.

Canadian money sux.

It will be sold to the daughter, and I suspect sold to the highest bidder. Hopefully it will stay in Buffalo, but who knows what the highest bidder will have in mind. Would the Colts ever leave Baltimore? Would the Browns ever leave Cleveland?

Golisano would have to sell the Sabres to buy the Bills, NFL rules.

...and that would be a problem how?? He would sell the Sabres in order to buy the Bills in a heartbeat.

I think either way it will be a group of investors lead by one of those guys. Golisano is high profile, but Rich and Jacobs are wealthier. I've heard that Jacobs was considered a good candidate by the NFL because his company has great cash flow. Personally, I am concerned that Jacobs wouldn't show a committment to winning, just like with the Bruins.

Me. I just have to wait till Powerball gets up to $300MM+ again. (I'll finance the rest).

All GM decisions will be determined by poll of TSW posters, so the Super Bowl can't be far off! :D

This is a sick, morbid poll- and I don't even want to think about it, nor do I care......I'm more concerned w/Mr. Wilson's health than the state of his football team.

And what have the Boston Bruins done since Jeremey Jacobs has owned them. nothing but watch the bottom line and have the highest concession prices in the league. Look at the player problems over the last 10 years for the Bruins. The NFL would never approve him

And I hope it stays that way. The Bruins can stay at the bottom.
