EC-Bills
I wouldn't go that far (they very, very probably did the right thing, but I'm willing to equivocate pending investigation)...but I will say unequivocably that his being bipolar is not what would make it the wrong thing. I agree. Should have phrased it as "based off the current info..." "Mental illness" is a satisfactory explanation, but not an excuse. 525745 Exactly. "Mental illness" is a satisfactory explanation, but not an excuse. 525745 I agree. The kind of investigation that every law enforcement shooting probably triggers. I smell a congressional panel should this get much more out of hand. It's great. I flip between Sean and Randi Rhodes on the way home (because extremists on either side piss me off, and oh how I love to be pissed off). Rhodes was particularly irritating tonight in that she was so sure that the marshall screwed up. Callers would dial in with "Randy, what if it was a bomb?" And she'd respond with something like "But it wasn't so they over reacted. They should have just taken his bag away. They should have just tazered him. They didn't have to kill him.." Then of course she stated that they weren't properly trained and that law enforcement should know what to do - these guys "clearly didn't." It's like clockwork. Want to hear one side of the story? 750. Want to hear the other side? Crank it up to 1690. They all suck. I really hope no one takes their crap as "news." Ok. Back to your thread. -Jeff

Law enforcement, I'm sure, has well-set long-standing procedures for investigating this sort of thing and coming away with constructive criticisms meant to improve responsiveness in the future. A congressional investigation...when's the last time you saw one used for anything other than apportioning blame? sh--, Congress is a useless creature. There's actually a set of ethical rules introduced by some Congressmen to clean up the way Congress works...which have NO chance of being accepted, as they have the effect of forcing our congressmen to do actual work to earn their pay. Assquatch
My wife is bipolar also and she agrees that the air marshalls did the right thing. 525695 My wife is bipolar and she agreed as well, but then she changed her mind.
ch19079
"Man suffered from bipolar disorder." Hell, I suffer from bipolar disorder, and if I claimed to have a bomb on a plane and ran from law enforcement while reaching into my bag, I'd expect to be shot. Really...some actions have consequences, no matter what the excuse. 525390 i knew a chick that was bipolar. she was a good christian girl one min., then a compete slut the next. normaly that would be a great thing, but i just felt bad for her.
