Tortured Soul Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 He's my first choice, but here's a guy who's been in the back of my head as well - http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coachbio.jsp?id=33 He's a young guy that could really wow us - and his defenses have scored tons of points for two years now. JDG 522139 He's a great choice. Talk is he's very happy at Iowa, though. The last two SB-winning head coaches - Belichik and Gruden were retreads. So were Vermeil and Shanahan. i don't like retreads eiter, but they do better than virgins.

But hey, what do *I* know, I'm just a fan.
ganesh Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Sean PaytonDallas Cowboys Assistanct Head Coach EDIT to add (Based on the assumption Donahoe will not be around to make the hire.) 522089 I like and dislike this pick....I like it, because he is a Parcells disciple....which means he will run a tough and disciplined football team like his predecessors like Bellichek, Fox, and parcells himself... I hate the pick, because he will be a rookie head-coach...and rookie head coach make mistakes and cannot adjust during the game....
ganesh Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 It did work for the Chargers and Giants. 522102 Marty has much better credentials as a HC than either Henning or Turner....
BigAL Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I'd take Wade Phillips back if he and Ralph can kiss and make up.
Mile High Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I wanted Coughlin or Weis. Looks like my choices would have been MUCH better. But hey, what do *I* know, I'm just a fan. 522219 Those were my two choices Coughlin ahead of Weiss by a little. But what the hell do we know? TD prefers the passive muppet show coach who doesn't have an opinion. Coughlin would've definetly butted heads with TD.
MDH Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 It did work for the Chargers and Giants. 522102 By "worked" do you mean another post-season collapse by Marty against the Jets last year? That team is loaded with talent, I'd wager MM could lead them to the playoffs...maneuvering through the playoffs is what's tricky.

But hey, what do *I* know, I'm just a fan. 522219 There's no way of knowing that either of those guys would have done a better job with the talent the Bills have here. I might grant you Coughlin as he has a decent track record, but Weis? The guy has done a great job...in college. How about we bring Pete Carroll in, he's had lots of success in college!? How about Steve Spurrier!? I'm not saying that Weis would fail in the NFL, but pointing to his success at Notre Dame is hardly proof he would have done better. There are loads of college coaches that never panned out in the NFL. That being said, I also preferred Weis at the time of the hiring but I have no clue how he would have faired. Granted, with both the OL and DL in shambles I don't think anybody could have gotten this team to the playoffs. I'm actually surprised we're competitive in most games.
sfladave Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 All above comments are meaningless dribble. NO WAY MM is let go after 2 seasons and 3 remaining on his contract. He WILL be back next year. If he has another major let down next year then we can start talking about replacements. I do think that we will be looking for a new OC and maybe a new GM.

How about we bring Pete Carroll in, he's had lots of success in college!? 522268 if the Bills hired Carroll....I would burn all my Bills gear and never root for them as long as he was on the payroll. he is the on guy i cannot stand. him and his stinkin' "choke" sign.
Rico Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Ralph's running out of time, he can't afford to wait for a HC to grow into the job anymore. This team needs someone to kick these players in the butt. This team needs to establish an identity and character. This team needs a good gameday coach who will not be throwing the ball on 1st-and-goal from the 3 with a 20-point lead. This team needs someone to come in and own Buffalo from day 1. This team needs someone to keep the stadium full. This team needs a proven winner who is currently available and will not break the bank to sign. This team needs.... DITKA! As HC only to kickass, build character, & make game-day decisions. Add Chris Polian as GM, two real OC & DC's TBD, problem solved.

There's no way a new GM comes in here without wanting the ability to hire his own guy as HC.

That was THE WAY Wade Phillips was let go after three years, two playoff appearances, and a 29-19 record.

He's a Belichek disciple and a former OL coach- who will have serious say in fixing the OL
