Sound_n_Fury
19 players who are in the last year of their contract Given that he's probably making bupkis, it behooves TD to sign him to a longer-term contract for sensible $$ now, rather than letting him hit the FA market after the season is up.... "Restricted free agents are players who have completed three accrued seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They have received qualifying offers from their old clubs and are free to negotiate with any club until April 15, at which time their rights revert to their original club. If a player accepts an offer from a new club, the old club will have the right to match the offer and retain the player. If the old club elects not to match the offer, it may receive draft-choice compensation depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to the player. MadBuffaloDisease
Peters will be an EFA because he has just 2 years in the NFL. He's not going anywhere.

I found this, which I guess applies to Peters: Exclusive-Rights Free Agents (ERFA) - Players with two or fewer years of experience who have no outside negotiating power. Their rights belong to their previous club provided they are made a minimum qualifying offer.

BillsWatch
But it is more important to lock up the important fanbase of fans who think he is a god! They are not only low in intellegence but also lack wisdom hence are easily fooled and could be lured away to another team!

He is/was a FORCE on special teams and can play TE. I think he's a must-sign.

Peters (and his fans) are butt of a lot of humor around here, but the guy's done some impressive things for the brief time he's been a Bill. A competent RT making the league minimum is an attractive commodity. I'd rather not play Chicken with another team on whether he'd sign an offer sheet somewhere else. He will gain limited leverage after next season when he becomes an RFA in the 2007 off-season, but even in this case his leverage will be greatly limited by the Bills submitting a qualifyiing offer for him which is at a level quite affordable for the Bills if he proves to be a reliable starter at tackle after 3 years in the league. Only a small number of players have attracted offers from teams as RFAs and they have been both lemons or have done well but the teams who lost them were compensated heavily by the CBA. Losing Peters is not worry for the Bills for a couple of years and even then the team will still have the leverage to sign him to a long--term deal should they choose to. jarthur31
This guy has done some things on teams most of which we are not aware of. Apparently, his receiving skills are lacking or his speed and wherewithall to get open, otherwise he's been quite the find.
Mark VI
What do we sign him as ? A OT a TE or something else ? After all, he can play every position on the team...

Yet another player getting short-changed by Mularkey's constant tinkering. Put him at one position (along with Mike Williams) and let him play. Stop overcoaching these guys MM.
