More proof of JP's progress

In his first 4 starts JP's line looked like this

45 of 94

47.8%

433 Yards

1 TD

2 INT

Since then JP played from the middle of the second quarter on against KC, and started against SD, and Carolina. So for you math majors that’s about 2 1/2 games.

During that time his line looks like this

45 of 81

55.5%

502 Yards

3 TD

2 INT

Mid 50's completition% is more then ok for a first year guy, and he's starting to pick his yardage totals up as well. No doubt he is making good progress, I just hope he can have a little red zone success to bring into next season. A multi dimensional QB like JP has the ability to make the red zone a strength if he keeps developing.

that and add losman was only 3 yards short of haveing only the 2nd 200 yard passing game this season and almost 30 yards more than his best game this season vs. houston... to me he seems to be getting better every week...if they dont leave him in for the rest of the year it will kill his developement...imho

At this point the Bills are probably past determining if Holcomb might play. Your first year QB is showing solid improvement and the Bills have pretty much fizzled out of the playoff picture. It's a no brainer at this point.

I totally agree with your feelings on JP's progress, and I actually look forward to watching the games each week because of him. I doubt I could say that if we had some other QB in there.

How much do you think poor play-calling inside the 20 has had to do with their poor red-zone success? I don't think they have utilized his ability to run yet.

There was a blurb on one of the pre-game shows this week, where they were discussing Vick and passing from inside the pocket. The gist of it was, why make him a pocket QB if the guy has another dimension to his game? I understand you'd want JP to get more comfortable passing from the pocket, and getting his game mechanics down, but this O-line blows. Why not turn the kid loose every once in a while?

No doubt he is making progress when you consider he also played against 3 fairly to very weak passing D teams in the first 4 games (Hou, NO, and Atl -not TB) versus pretty overall D's in KC, SD, and Car.

Actually the Saints and Atlanta are in the top half of the league while KC and SD are in the bottom 7.

And adding a viable Running Game should help him more with the play

action pass...

Earlier we used to B word that the Passing game was not helping the Running

game....Now, it looks like Mcgahee needs a kick in his butt to get the

Run game going.

The fact that people have to constantly defend his performance in his first season on the field shows how much of a first-round bust he is. No one felt compelled to defend Eli Manning his first season, for example...

I agree. I think he's the guy to go with for the rest of the season. He isn't going to improve sitting on the bench, he's giving it his all, and he improves every game. I think the kid is the major bright spot in a season that SO FAR has been disappointing. Five games to go...let's show the NFL some old fashioned Buffalo Bills football!!!

Speaking of Eli, Here's a comparison of his numbers from his first season compared to JP's thus far:

G CMP ATT PCT YDS    AVG TD LNG INT  RAT

Eli       9  95  197  48.2 1043   5.3    6   52     9   55.4

JP       7  90  175  51.4   935   5.3    4   42     4   65.3

On offence I think this team is close to being set for the next several years except for the offensive line. The only skill position where Buffalo has a concern is finding a starter at WR to replace the aging Eric Moulds, who has becopme little more than an expensive version of Wayne Chrebet. If Buffalo can get another year or two out of Christ Villarial, they're not that far off on the line either. Gandy is serviceable at left tackle, and might actually be a pretty good left guard, unlike Mike Williams. Preston may turn out to be Teague's replacement. Thus Buffalo may only need to find one starter in the offseason at either guard or left tackle, depending on hour free agency and the draft falls. It would be great comfort to think Losman can be our starter for the next decade.

I'm not quite yet prepared to annoint Parrish as a starting and effective WR.
