BuffaloBud
First, yes, I did try to Google this. What should the typical overhang that a shingle should have into a gutter? (This is going to get a lot of "different" reponses.) I had noticed that in one section of my roof I was getting a lot of water dripping down, almost like a leak. I borrowed a ladder from a neighbor to check this out. Overhang of shingle at the area in question was less that 1/4in. I know that there are some construction minded folks here. Any help? Just Jack
Send a PM to Hammered a Lot. He's a roofer. Warning though, he may charge you for his answer.
Nervous Guy
The drip edge should extend 1 to 2 inches beyond the fascia. If there's too much roof overhang, pad out the gutter with wood blocks on the fascia; if there's too little, extend the drip edge.
BuffaloBud
Water was running between the gutter and fascia. I don't think the overhand was sufficient. Plus, no drip edge.
nick in* england
Bud - I think the best bet is about 1 to 2 inches...
