Dan Gross Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Thank you for choosing TBD over the past few years. We are honored that you cose our site to spend your valuable leisure time with. Your posts do not support that fact. Good luck in your future endeavors... 511973 Oh, Scott, you're such an ethnic-cleansing, torturing, oppressive, burgeois tyrant. How dare you trample on his God-given right to "open his mouth and remove all doubt" as Twain would say. Kool-Aid Drinker! Sorry, guess I'm just frustrated because I bet the house on his "dead solid lock" that he'd make it through the holiday weekend. Yet another thing to be thankful for this holiday.
Fezmid Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 How do you know he's got character? Do you KNOW Mike personally? I swear that people on this board like to make stuff up about players they know nothing about. 511966 I know you're kidding, but if he doesn't have character, he hides it better than BM does.
Rico Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I know you're kidding, but if he doesn't have character, he hides it better than BM does. 511980 You've got a point there.

Tcali Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Ahh, you're judging the draft based on one game. That's great. If you watched the Bills last year, you'd know that MW dominated the end of the season. He also played pretty well at the beginning of this season before his ankle injury. If you watched the Vikings at all (I do, I live in Minnesota), you'd see that BM has played terribly this year. Oh, and he's been arrested as well as destroyed evidence from the porn cruise. But go ahead and base everything on one game you happen to be watching on TV. I should probably bet the house since BM is your "lock" for the HOF, right? CW 509820
RunTheBall Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Since both are not living up to their expecations, I'll take the guy who has character -- MW. 511965 This is a joke right? Did I miss the sarcastic smiley or something? Mike Williams doesn't have character. A guy with character shows up to play every day. He doesn't fall apart when grandma dies and takes half the season off with that lame excuse. A guy with character uses adversity to make himself stronger, not fatter. RTB

RTB 512016 So you're saying you'd rather have a player who actively breaks the law, as opposed to someone who grieves the loss of a parent/grandparent?
boomerjamhead Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Well he was right about one thing Scott. Being Next. 511978 Does this mean we don't have to put up with that rediculous avatar anymore?
Fake-Fat Sunny Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Try this trick Alaska. It's real simple: Who would you rather have on the Bills as of today, Williams or McKinnie ? It's easy isn't it. Also this thread wasn't intended to be a Williams /McKinnie debate, your buddy brought that about. 511915 I agree with you this isn't easy because the logical mind would want neither. However given the bad choice between MW who unprofessionally melted down and let his teammates and the region down when his Grammy died, or alternately, the player who missed much of his rookie season holding out and has had his off-field runs in with the law and both have sorely disappointed with their play on the field which has been inconsistent at best. I'd choose MW. Fortunately it is unlikely the Bills will have to deal with either player as a Bills roster candidate for the 2006 season.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Before the draft I would have taken McKinnie. The first season I would have taken Williams. The second season I would have taken McKinnie. The third season I would have taken Williams. The fourth season I would have taken McKinnie. I am not sure who I would have taken come next year. Neither has played all that great or what their teams wanted, expected or paid for. Right now, McKinnie looks better. That could easily change.
VABills Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Does this mean we don't have to put up with that rediculous avatar anymore? 512031 He has an avatar? I don't see it.
Rico Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Maybe after we cut MW. he'll sign with the Vikings like all the other ex-Bills & it'll be easier to see who's better.
Sisyphean Bills Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Allow me to clarify My Position on Scouting, Drafting etc...It matters not that many, if not almost all others, were wrong in their evaluation. It matters only that the Bills were wrong, and others were right...I know it sounds harsh, unrealistic, whatever...But the fact is up to this point in time, they got it wrong. And furthermore had they done well with both 2nd Round Picks the fact that MW has underachieved up to this point would be much more acceptable... BTW Thanks for the Links...Good reading it is... 511168 Exactly. One evaluates a draft based on its results and NOT based on people's perceptions at/before it happens. There's no revisionist history involved here. The 2002 draft was a monumental bust for the Buffalo Bills organization. That draft should've netted players that are making the current team a title contender. It simply didn't happen. Not one of those players even starts!
Sisyphean Bills Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Mike Williams didn't DOMINATE last year. Mike Williams wasn't GREAT last year. He was serviceable. Dominators and great players are all pro's. Mike Williams is never even considered in the same breath with all pro's OR guys being considered all pros. And if Big Mike was so good this season after DOMINATING last season, why the hell would they switch his offensive line position this year? He may be hurt, anyone can concede that, but there's no way an NFL team switches a DOMINATING, and GREAT offensive tackle to another spot on a line, so he can dominate and be great at a less demanding line spot. Wake up. After all the ass-sucking McNally worshippers, I can't imagine God McNally moving Big Mike to another spot because he's been so "dominating". 511535 Donahoe said MW was moved because the younger guy was playing better at RT and they felt it was better to move MW. The mistake there wasn't playing Peters in his mind, it was rushing Fat Mike into the lineup at LG. In other words, MW is not only not a dominant NFL RT, he's not even the best RT on the Bills right now. Not only that, but he doesn't know how to play on the inside and was so bad at it, the coaches decided to keep a guy they desperately want to get off the field on the field.
Sound_n_Fury Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 There's no revisionist history involved here. 512048 And the list grows longer...

It is entirely possible, and likely, and even publicly stated, that they think Peters is one of the five best linemen. It just s happens that he plays tackle. As does Gandy and Williams. If they wanted Peters on the field, and Anderson off it, the lineup of Gandy-Wlliams-Teague-Villarial-Peters was a lot more appealing to the brass than Gandy-Peters-Teague-Villarial-Williams. Simply because you would have your athletic guy at tackle and your big run blocker with a bad ankle inside. He just wasnt ready to play LG after 11 years at tackle and 3 practices at guard.
BADOLBILZ Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Basically I think the same thing I thought about the two of them on draft day 4 years ago; 6 of one, half-dozen of the other. McKinnie's been marginally better in passpro while Williams has been better working the groundgame. 511679 I think you know that 6 games played and 6 games in the tub are not equal. LT > RT. Cold, hard facts. I hope Mike becomes a kickass guard someday. Guards are important. If we get a top 10 pick this year, I'm thinkin' guard again. Bookends.
