If The Bills Win Tomorrow

That's a huge IF!

New England is the walking wounded right now facing a tough Miami team. The Jets are also on the road facing the Carolina Panthers.

If Buffalo can somehow someway stop the KC running game we could come out smelling like a rose tomorrow. What's the chances of us winning tomorrow and the rest of the East losing?

Am I just dreaming again?

I have a question. Let's just suppose for a second that the pats go 3-5 the rest of the way. Let's suppose that due to injuries or other things we can make the playoffs by finishing 5-3 ending up 8-8. Why would that make anyone happy?

As true fans, would we be satisfied with that given that we would likely get our butts kicked in the first round of the playoffs, especially if it was vs. the Steelers and their backups.

If we made the playoffs I would be happy, yes. When and if we did lose the game I am still a REAL fan and know what this team lacks and can build on. Wouldn't it be nice to just slip into the playoffs somehow someway? For some crazy reason I still have a little faith is this team this year. The fat lady hasn't sung yet for pete's sake!

Because I'll tell ya Kat, that after a string of "we.ll get 'em next year and the play-off drought we have to endure, the chance to jump on the division and get a "Division Champ" sweatshirt from your parents for Christmas for the first time in a decade is not a bad thing.

Considering the Chefs are 1-8 in Buffalo, I can see the Bills winning tomorrow. I can also see the Dolphins beating the Pats, since they ALWAYS give the Pats fits in Miami, and the Pats are really banged-up. I think it's a given that the Jets will lose. Here's hoping I'm right and we see the Bills alone in first place by this time tomorrow!

OMG when will this CRAZY TALK end??? I read post after post by fans who claim to be "true fans" by wanting to throw this season away for the future -- and it is probably the stupidest notion I have ever heard on this board. The Bills are bigger than one player, bigger than any single developmental project. Would getting to the playoffs and presumably losing in the first round make me happier than if we missed the playoffs and got JP some time to play? HELL YES IT WOULD! Why, might you ask?

Has anyone realized the culture that has been fostering in Buffalo ever since Tom Donahoe took over? It is a culture of losing. A culture of being complacent with the fact that the franchise is headed in the right direction. To put it mildly, that's a bunch of horseschittt. One playoff bound season would instill hope in the team -- from the veterans on down. Sometimes, you need to taste the playoffs and lose before you can learn how to win. We don't need any high draft picks. You saw where that got us with Mike Williams. What we really need is culture change. We need a winning atmosphere and yes, a first round playoff loss would far surpass yet another developmental year.

And despite what you may believe after reading this, I am a true fan.

I'm with you. I'd be more happy this year if the bills went 8-8 and went to the playoffs and lost than i was last year when we went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. Remember, you have to go to the prom to have a chance to dance with the prom queen.

Last year's march through a weak back-half schedule gave the appearance of a team "gelling" and one that was gaining momentum - that is until the Bench Beasts of Pissburg knocked the pretense out of that squad.

A similar run in the back-half of this year would be different because in order to do so (against a very easily argued tougher schedule than last year's second half) the Lines - both O and D will have to show marked improvement over the first eight games' body of work. IMHO that would be real progress and a reasonable basis for building renewed hope for a better 2006 campaign.

I would much rather that scenario play out than (emphasis on the use of the proper word here boys and girls) having a replay of the tossed salad they served up the first half of the year.

Hey, it could happen. Let's see.

Remember, this is the Patriots, where an injury report listing of OUT is equivalent to "will have a career game this weekend."

And it only costs 10 grand. That's what the B'gals were fined last year, when they announced that WR Peter Warrick was out, and they played him.

Pretty cheap price for fiddling with the bettors at the last minute...
