Me and a bunch of friends are going to Buffalo for the Habs-Sabres game Fri. Oct. 25 and the Bills game the following Sunday. So we are going to have Saturday to just walk around in the city, eat wings, pizza etc. I also would like to go out Sat night. I have been to Buffalo a few times but I don’t know much about the bar scene. From the info I could gather on the net, Mr. Goodbar and Faherty’s seem like good hangouts. Anyone ever been to been there? Or any other places we should consider? (We are in our mid 20’s and don’t usually go for upscale and trendy bars)

I also was asked by a friend (no really, it's not me) to try to find a college party, ideally one where the girls would be easy. But I doubt I could find such info on the web. Besides since it’s going to be Thanksgiving I figure most University campuses should be empty anyway. Right?

Thank you!

Marc, if you are looking for the kind of "entertainment" one finds on St.Catherine's street in Montreal, you need to cross the border into Niagara Falls or Fort Erie. Some excellent establishments include the Sundowner, Private Eyes, The Dollhouse, and Pure Platinum.

Buffalo benefits from a 4am last call. The Chippawa/Delaware Ave. are is full of night clubs, discos, and pubs. Also Allenstown which is the corner of Elmwood and Allen streets. Further up Elmwood between Bidwell and Forrest is a nightclub district called the Elmwood Strip. Main Street north of LaSalle is the big club area of University of Buffalo kids.

If you like the Blues and want to find women over 30 looking for fun, try the Lafayette Tap Room in the old Lafayette Hotel at Niagara Square. The only gin mills near HSBC are Prohibition and The Pearl St Grill.

Pick up an Artvoice newspaper, or go to http://www.artvoice.com/ for club and pub info.

Thanks everyone for their advice.

I'll post a report on how it went. If not tune it to Cops as I might be on, shirtless, with a clueless look on my face tryin to climb over a fence to escape from a police chase.

Mothers, Colter Bay and Fahertys are all good as alternatives to Chippewa. Try the wings at Gabriel's Gate. Don't drink too much at the game-you will ruin your night. Pace yourself. Have a good visit

No, no, don't be telling him to go down Niagara Falls Blvd. All that is big, fat, crass American commercialism.

Not sure about some of those places, but I have been to the Barrel House. When I fly in from So. Cal., that is where I spend most of my time. Great place, right in the middle of the downtown nitelife
