The other thread was pretty good so how about unexpectedly bad movies?

Mine is 2001: A Space Odyssey

I only recently saw this. All I have to say is LAME!

It was supposed to be one of the all time great science fiction movies but:

No Aliens visible. EVER!!!!!!!

No lasers

A computer that talks but doesn't sound like a robot (and also has a stupid name)

Was there even a story line?

If I want that music, I'll just hop in an elevator

At least please throw in a hot chick in a space suit

What movie did you think would be good but it ended up stinking? Even though 2001 was definitely horrible, please pick another one or this thread will be boring.

Of recent vintage, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Just Horrible.

I watched it earlier this week, I was expecting more than a story line that tried to do to much in a limited amount of time.

Over the last couple years, NOTHING has been more disappointing than the Matrix Reloaded....what a waste of time.

I think that you missed the whole point of the movie if this is your take. This movie was more philosophical than action.

A.I.- Artificial Intelligence

I was interested to see it because it was Stanley Kubrick's idea for the film and he had discussed it at length with Spielberg. Spielberg picked up the project and ran with it after Kubrick passed away in honor of the great director.

I found it shallow, slow-moving, and the attempts at symbollism were blatant and a bit too on-the-surface, as opposed to subtle and thought-provoking.

It was also too long, and could have ended about 3 times before it actually did.

For me, Booty Call just didn't live up to it's advanced billing. I was expecting a cinematic gem, but was sorely disappointed. Oh well, they say Booty Call II should exceed where BC I failed.

The Two Jakes.

Chinatown was awesome...I LOVE Jack. This movie reeked!

Another stinker was The Brother's Grimm. Terry Gilliam...what happened?

Chronicles of Riddick. Nowhere near as cool as Pitch Black and totally disappointing. The elemental chick was stupid and added nothing.

Wow. I feel just the opposite about Chronicles...I thought it was GREAT.

Watch it another time or two and see if it grows on you :D

For me these have been stinkers:

Revolver...Snatch it wasn't

Doom...Way worse than even my lowest expectations.

Phantom Menance....Jar Jar

Pearl Harbor

Yeah, yeah, Ben Affleck with the lead should have tipped me off but I had such hope for this pile of cinematic crap.

That movie sucked. I had low expectations for it...but they were still higher than watching the Kido Butai bomb modern American destroyers.

If it sounds like a fart, and smells like a fart, and lingers like a fart, it is probably a fart.

From a couple years ago: "Lost in Translation". A few us sat down to watch it after hearing it was up for some academy awards and ended up wanting 2 1/2 hours of our life back. No clue how that piece got nominated for awards.
