ExiledInIllinois Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Did anybody notice the new Bank of America (BOA) commercials and how they mention that BOA was first set up by women and their overall committment to women in business and banking? I found it funny that they didn't mention anything thing about FREAKIN' CREDIT CARDS! Wasn't BOA one of the first to offer a national bank plan? Don't women love credit cards? A little research pulled this: The first national bank plan was BankAmericard, which was started on a statewide basis in 1959 by the Bank of America in California. This system was licensed in other states starting in 1966, and was renamed Visa in 1976. Of course I am being funny here and of course my wife couldn't live with out a credit card? Just got me wondering. Feel free to speak your BankAmericard blues, all you B.B. King wannabees out there!
