I thought the last one was the JAX game in '03.  Haven't verified it, but that's the last one I can remember.

I find myself strangely unconcerned about that.

I'm far more concerned that the Bills haven't had a 200-yard passing game in the last 11 games.  ;)

Yes, that is incredible as well, but DAMN...Remember the Kelly days? 300 yards, Dre with 1-2 TD, Thurman with 110 rushing, 50 receiving...

Mommy, I want to cry..

I just realized this: The Bills use to be really good and have sucked for almost 6 years....BAD

300 yard games are not common occurrences...even with Kelly, Reed, and Thomas they weren't common. A quick, back-of-the-envelope calculation gives me a number of about 12-15% of all games league-wide are 300+ yard passing games. That's why they're usually used as a benchmark for a really good passing game, much as 100 yards rushing or 100 yard receiving games are.

However...through a 36-game stretch you should expect 3-5 300-yard performances. So no, that's not good. But you should also expect...maybe 9 200+ yard performances over an eleven-game stretch, not zero. I think that's a far more accurate measure of the levels of suckiness the passing game has achieved.

The more I think about this stat the more I wonder if the Bills have the most inept passing game in the NFL over say the last 3 years?  That would be sad....

485693[/snapback]

A quick check leads me to believe that Houston's definitely the worst in the league since 2003. Next-to-worst is probably either the Bills or the Bears. Bills are definitely in the bottom five, and probably the worst since the beginning of '04.

Which, considering we've got a good receiving corps, is pretty damned pathetic. In fact, the Bills' passing game was last good when Peerless Price was here.

Or Thurman and Kenneth Davis where each would get close to 100 yards?

Or Beebe and Tasker with their end around runs?

You do not need a lot of yards throwing (unless you play football using Madden) if your other weapons can come to the line of scrimmage.

Considering we don't run enough, having more rushing yards than passing yards this season is the pathetic-flavored icing on the cake....

I think back then the Bills used a thing called a TIGHT END...Mr. McKellar and Mr. Metzelaars....

Besides the end arounds, remember those Thurman screens ? ;)

indeed. a good tight end and a running back who receives well would be most welcome.

It's true - for the record the most 330 yard games Kelly ever had in one season was 6 in 1991. And the Bills single season record of seven 300 yard passing games was set in 2002 by everyone's favorite whipping boy, Drew Bledsoe.

Even in the Flutie/RJ era we never had many (probably just 2 or 3) 300+ yard

games....but the bottom line was at least we were getting the WINS....

Now we get neither.....

We have a "very good receiving corps" only on paper....These guys have

never consistently got open quickly for the QB to deliver even with a rush

on their face....Either they would drop it or be covered....Moulds is one of

the most overrated players.....

The Buffalo Bills haven't had a 300 yard passing game in 30+ games!!!!  I think the exact number was 36!!!!

OMFG!

That's why Holcomb is "so good" all of a sudden. Because our standard for good QB play has been so stomped on that we all think a bowl of crap is a gourmet meal.

Whats completely insane and/or embarrasing about the stat is that usually teams with 300+ yard days are trying to come from behind. The loosing team turns to the passing game to catch up.

The Bills have had the opportunity to play from behind often over the last few years and still can't even get the gimme yards during the prevent/garbage time. :)

I think a 71% completion percentage with no INT's is *good* by any definition - particularly considering the style that the Bills want to play.
