Just goes to show you, as all have said before, that this is a guessing game. However the Jets did a decent job getting both ellis and abraham at the same time. The Bears now have two of the top ten picks from that draft, etc. Just an interesting memory from the past.

26. BUFFALO DE Arizona State Erik Flowers 6-4 / 271

--Arizona's Erik Flowers made the most sweeping ascension up the draft boards. He was virtually unknown, until the East-West Shrine game. He beefed up his weight, posted very good work out numbers, and slipped into the first round. Flowers will give some much needed depth to the Bills' pass rush rotation

Looking at some of the names taken higher than Flowers, I don't feel so bad anymore...although passing on Keith Bullock for Erik is a kick in the pants.

Fun to analyze this one. I count 13 picks who are performing right now or have contributed to real team success in the past (such as J. Lewis, who might now be in decline).

1. CLEVELAND Courtney Brown *bust*

2. WASHINGTON LaVar Arrington *mediocre, transitioned from success to bust*

3. WASHINGTON Chris Samuels *moderate success*

4. CINCINNATI Peter Warrick *med-to-bust*

5. BALTIMORE Jamal Lewis *success, not without serious flaws i.e. character*

6. PHILADELPHIA Corey Simon *moderate success, weight issues*

7. ARIZONA Thomas Jones *med-to-OK, journeyman may have found his team*

8. PITTSBURGH Plaxico Burress *push*

9. CHICAGO Brian Urlacher *one of draft's better picks*

10. BALTIMORE Travis Taylor *bust*

11. NY GIANTS Ron Dayne *bust*

12. NY JETS Shaun Ellis *success*

13. NY JETS John Abraham *success*

14. GREEN BAY "Bubba" Franks *med-to-bust*

15. DENVER Deltha O'Neal *bust*

16. SAN FRANCISCO Julian Peterson *moderate success*

17. OAKLAND Sebastian Janikowski *he's performed, but sometimes the performance has been a circus, and still a massive reach in middle of round 1*

18. NY JETS Chad Pennington *moderate success*

19. SEATTLE Shaun Alexander *best value pick of the draft*

20. DETROIT Stockar McDougle *mediocre*

21. KANSAS CITY Sylvester Morris *bust*

22. SEATTLE Chris McIntosh *bust*

23. CAROLINA Rashard Anderson *bust*

24. SAN FRANCISCO Ahmed Plummer *moderate success*

25. MINNESOTA Chris Hovan *med-to-bust*

26. BUFFALO Erik Flowers *absolute bust, somehow has made a career out of it*

27. NY JETS Anthony Becht *med-to-bust*

28. INDIANAPOLIS Rob Morris *med-to-bust*

29. JACKSONVILLE R. Jay Soward *complete bust* OOL

30. TENNESSEE Keith Bullock *another fantastic value*

31. ST. LOUIS Trung Canidate *bust* OOL

Having more fun and stomach-aches reading this.

Just think if Butler had reached for this guy instead at 26:

44. Green Bay OG Tennessee Chad Clifton 6-5 / 334

--Clifton has good speed for a big man (4.90 forty in individual workouts). Will be a able to step up and compete right away.

Damn.

58. Buffalo S Georgia Tech Travares Tillman 6-1 / 194

--Missed out on Grant, and selects Tillman to fill a big void. Tillman's biggest asset is that he is a very intelligent player.

Oof. His biggest asset sure wasn't his ability to play safety.

89. Buffalo OLB Virginia Tech Corey Moore 5-10 / 223

--Something had to be done about Gabe Nothern's inability to get the quarterback ... so they bring in the sack master, Corey Moore.

double-oof. The guy did not make me forget Gabe Northern.

Worst. Draft. Ever.

You are way wrong with Chris Hovan. Since coming to the Buc's he's solidified himself as a great run stopper in the middle for the Buc's. We might want to ask WM what he thinks. My guess is he'll be in Hawaii for the Pro-Bowl come Feb.

I liked your other comments though! :(

The other one you could argue is Julian Peterson. I guess last year's injury would put him in the "moderate success" column, but he's a monster when he's on the field.

Other than that...spot on!

O'Neal has "un-busted" himself. 34 tackles and 4 picks in spot duty last season with CIN (bum ankle), and 26 tackles and 4 picks after 6 games this season.

let's make him "mediocre," then, as penance for 4 years of suckage. :(

It wasn't necessarily Bills related, and it was 5 years ago that this all happened... ancient history...

Hmmm... first round I'm assuming?

Yeah, should have said "this round" instead of "the draft."

Whoops.

What I was surprised about was how piss-poor those next two rounds were.
