bdelma Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 He didn't get a whole lot of carries either. He had averages of 3.9, 4.1, 4.1, and 4.1, but he didn't have more than 183 carries in any of those seasons. In his "decent" year, 1972, he had 292 carries for 1251 yards (4.2 avg) and 6 TDs. OJ was good from the get-go, he just didn't have the touches. 474155[/snapback] John Raush wanted to throw the ball to him if I remember.

Teams that pound the ball (and run a lot) generally have lower YPC averages. The Bills haven't been that team this year. Also, as I said, Willis' YPC last game was not good. Give him back that 50 yarder and his YPC is great. Does that make that much a difference in how good a game he played? No it doesn't, but it would look that way on the statsheet. Willis has been average this year, I'm hoping he turns it up a notch or two, but I don't think we'll see that speed he used to have until he drops some weight, and even then I'm not sure he still has that gear he had in college.
