I like Mularkey but he and Clements are getting too cute with the playcalling. With a first year QB, you give him a little more each game. But first he must show he can pass QB 102 before giving him 405.

I know what you are saying, but I think it one of those, if it works, it is brilliant, if it doesn't, you look like an idiot...Losman seems to play with a lot of (or too much?) adrenaline. I think Mularkey/Clements were trying desperately for him to come up with a big play, to get him going, and to get the home crowd riled...we know from his days with the Steelers, Mularkey fancies gadget plays. The Steelers usually executed them to perfection during the regular season.

Problem is, I called out meathead last year and people said give him a break it's his first year, he'll be much better next year after watching film and seeing where he messed up.

Guess what, I think he got worse.

Cowhar BTW, made the playoffs his first year, and went to the AFC Championship game and had 12 regular season wins his second year.

Cowhar has also lost 4 championship games at home. Obviously he's got to get there first, but let's not act like he's the end all be it of coaches in this league. He's the new Shottenheimer. Does anybody doubt that if Pittsburgh gets home field advantage again this year that they'll choke in the playoffs yet again? I don't.

I don't doubt that, but guess what? He's a lot better than anything we got now.

...and last I checked he wasn't available. Even if he was, he'd probably ask for too much money...

Yeah well that's because as you put it, Ralph sucks as an owner.

I disagree. WM averaged 5 yd/carry. Run the f'ing ball until they can stop him. This offensive coordinator is trying to out-think himself ala past o-coordinators we have had.

Now why would anyone quote that azzho Florio on this site, let alone read anything by him. Furthermore, taking what this guy says as even remotely true is effen stupid. STUPID!

458749[/snapback]

To be fair to Florio, he misquoted his well-placed source. It was his wife who told him that Mularkey had a big meat head or something...

I think that is part of it.  Yeah I know Mularkey and Clements were there during some of that time.  But I think steel chin is a little bit of a control freak and takes responsibility for stuff, hence his run-ins with Donahoe and the forcing of TD out.  I think he is commited to winning and oversees things much better.  He also seems to have a better feel for the games.

do you not think a HC deserves responsibility for losing 4 -- i repeat 4 -- AFC championship games on his home field? a team earns home field by being the best team during the regular season. there's a problem when that team can't win the biggest game of their season in front of their own fans.

cowher is an above-average coach, no question. but he's not a great coach.

Yeah, becuase given the context of half of your posts, that wouldn't be a legitimate interpretation.

Take a Xanax, Sally, things are going to be juuuuust fine.

Yeah, but that is what makes him who he is.....a serious MF who is a passionate Bills fan.

Besides, he is trying SOOO hard! :P

I guess Marv was only above average since he went to 4 super bowls didn't win. Sometimes it is ladyluck not on your side. I'd say he is well above average. Maybe not great, but with his record and ability to get to the post season he will make the HOF someday. Just remember he did finally get to the SB.

And I would take average at this point. Above average and I'd be estatic.

Mularkey has a winning record, yes? Just checking.

first of all -- marv was undefeated in all but one home playoff game during his tenure as HC, and 3-0 in home AFC championship games (4-1 overall). only one of those games (denver in '92) was even close. the super bowl is played on a neutral field, in case you forgot.

in stark contrast, out of 5 home field AFC championship games, the cowher-led steelers could only beat the wild card, jim harbaugh-led colts -- and they nearly lost that one.

that's not lady luck -- it's inexplicable failure in a game your team SHOULD win.

10-9, and if he was an average coach it would be more. He had 4 wins against the bad NFC west last year.

Excuses, excuses. You can only win the games put in front of you.

9-9 would be .500, which by any standard is AVERAGE.
