Yes, because he isn't putting a young inexperienced QB in a position to succeed, and call plays that work.  To constantly call for 30 yard patterns on first down at the beginning of games is stupid and poor coaching.

I saw all three games, and the only game that JP was called on to go 30 yards downfield at the begining was this past game against the Falcons. In fact, he has been called on to go deep very few times, other than the three times early in the Falcons game. I thought it was a good move, to help him get his confidence pumping. He just overthrew on all but 1 of them. If memory serves me, the 42 yard reception that Evans had on the opening drive of the Texans game was more Evans legs, than Losman's arm...

Maybe I am seeing a different game than some of you. I think Losman has, for the most part, had decent pass protection (I didn't say great), and has just been gun shy. Against the Falcons in particular, he seemed to choose not to throw to open receivers all over the field, even though he had time. His only success came in the first game, and most of those were slant passes that he seemed pre-determined to throw, and involved little defensive recognition.

I have no doubt that JP will correct his accuaracy problems, as he becomes more confident. I agree with Mark that they should be running the ball as much as possible, until that day comes. The QB sneaks, and the play to Jonathan "slow Freddie" Smith were kind of head scratchers, considering how well Willis had been running on the Falcons. Going into this season, I was sure that McGahee was going to be asked to carry this offense. I think it is a better plan, than force feeding Losman. If he continues to struggle, given his personality, I could see it affecting his play long-term....going to the game this Sunday at the Alamodome, and I will be pissed if Willis doesn't roll up another 140+ yard game....of course, it would be encouraging too, to see JP get into the hight 100's at least....all in good time!

I'm well aware of the shortcomings of our OL concerning pass blocking. Yet they do open holes for the running game.

So if your RB shows he can get 100 + yards if you give him the rock enough, should the Coaches keep asking the young, inexperienced QB to throw passes downfield, which have little chance of being completed ?  How many offensive plays are we literally wasting each game ? 10 ? 15 ?

The playcalling is very unrealistic after 3 games. You play to the strength of your roster, not play Madden 2006 with players who don't have the ability to beat certain defensive packages.

Right now, we have a first year QB who is fighting himself. He's not throwing the ball at all. He's trying to aim it/guide it to his receivers and not coming close on many plays. Many times, he has little time to throw.

Run the ball. What is so galling to Mularkey/Clements that they can't accept this ? Quit trying to squeeze the square peg into the round hole and let your young QB take some baby steps before asking too much of him. Run the ball and rediscover the TE for short passes. Go downfield a couple times a game. Let the confidence of the kid grow slowly. Right now, he plays as if HE needs to do it all. He doesn't and that reflects squarely on the coaching staff.

Agreed...100%...Now we find out if MM and His Offensive Staff is capable of adjusting on the fly, or if they are just plain stubborn...Cause a similar Game Plan vs. The Saints in their "Home" Opener will result in failure...That much I can pretty much guarantee...
