Leaving for Vegas one week from Saturday and think we are staying at Excalibur. I have been there for the Tournament of Kings dinner, but never stayed there. Can't decide between Excalibur or the Tropicana. Same $$$ for either.

Most other places are becoming sold out due to a fight there that weekend.

Any input would be appreciated.

I don't have a lot to add, but I'll be staying at Excalibur in a few weeks. It seemed like good bang for the buck. If you look around enough you can find reviews of both hotels.

Tropicana feels like an older casino to stay at to me, but I've never stayed at either.

Of course, given the amount of time you spend in your room it doesn't matter too much where you stay (at least for me) as long as you like the location.

So true about time being spent in the room. It's usually time spent sleeping off all those "complimentary drinks" you get while gambling.

Tropicana is older and the casino there seems a little grungy. It makes me feel like I am in someones crowded basement. Although, Tropicana's pool is awesome.

The "Ex" is a bit older and not quite as cool as some of the other spots, but since it sits right on the strip you can't lose. Just walk down the road and go where ever you want!

I would recommend a trip to The Orleans for low limit gambling ($2 craps!), Freemont street for a taste of old Vegas and a great light show, the Hard Rock for some of the finest ladies Vegas has to offer and the strip, well because it's the strip.

Oddly enough I spent last Sunday in the Excalibur's sports book watching the game. Several of us walked away just stunned by the ending. Well the ending and the Bloody Marys...

The Excalibur is a family-friendly hotel, so there will be a lot more kids around - no big deal if you don't mind that.

More kids = more booze. Isn't that how it goes.

Is The Orleans down past The Rio and The Palms somewhere? Or is that someplace else I'm thinking?
