His own words? Well, some of them are but they cut out the preface to the remarks where Kerry indicated that he was reporting comments made by others at a conference prior to his testimony. These are not accusations by Kerry, he is simply relating what others said. What this ad does, not that you give a flip that you are advancing their lies, is lie by calling these comments accusations by Kerry. They are admissions by others that he is quoting. When you repeat the lie of another, you become a liar yourself. Congratulations. At this point, you'd have to dig a hole to get any lower.

From CNN:

"The ad does not include Kerry's preface, in which he said he is reporting what others said at a Vietnam veterans conference. Instead, a swift boat group member refers to the statements as "accusations" Kerry made against Vietnam veterans."

No but I've heard Dubya talk about the war on terra. And how the terraists never stop thinking of ways to harm us, and neither does he. Why they might even make nucular weapons if'n we don't stop 'em. Don't misunderestimate that.

Kerry chose to be the mouthpiece for those "others", chose to use "their" words to advance his personal agenda, and swore an oath to tell the truth prior to publicizing those accusations. Those words came out of his mouth and he needs to live with the fact that he said them. The least he could do is be a man about it, but as we're learning he prefers to lawyer up rather than atone for his past.

Funny how you libs go on and on about the 7 minutes in a Florida classroom with no mention of Bush's leadership in the days that followed, but then you whine and complain about a commercial that uses only a portion of Kerry's comments.

Funny how you wingnuts go on and on about stuff like this.

Here's what Kerry said to Russert in April 2004, not long after Bush made a complete fool of himself on the same show (i.e. he couldn't think of a single mistake he'd ever made in his life):

It was, I think, a reflection of the kind of times we found ourselves in and I don't like it when I hear it today.  I don't like it, but I want you to notice that at the end, I wasn't talking about the soldiers and the soldiers' blame, and my great regret is, I hope no soldier--I mean, I think some soldiers were angry at me for that, and I understand that and I regret that, because I love them.  But the words were honest but on the other hand, they were a little bit over the top.  And I think that there were breaches of the Geneva Conventions.  There were policies in place that were not acceptable according to the laws of warfare, and everybody knows that.  I mean, books have chronicled that, so I'm not going to walk away from that.  But I wish I had found a way to say it in a less abrasive way.

(You'll seize on the "buts" and say that's a flip-flop, no doubt. If that's a flip-flop then what of Roy Hoffman, the guy who praised Kerry's bravery and ingenuity in 1969 but now appears in the SBVL (that's right, L for Lies) ad?)

It's nice to see the Dems and Repubs continue to keep the public wallowing around in minutia while they drive the country off the cliff.  Nice job, lemmings.

Great quote. If he would simply state that again today, heck even run a campaign add with that part of his appearance, everything would probaly be okay now and the Swift Boat Veterans adds wouldn't have nearly the impact. Instead of facing it the way he did on that show, he seems to be running and hiding behind lawyers lately. See - I'm not as irrational as you made me out to be, I just need to see facts instead of the opinionated drivel that tends to presented as facts around here.

Kerry has referred back to what he said that day -- although truthfully I can't remember if it's he or his spokespeople or a combination of both who have been reminding the press about that quote in recent weeks. I do think that people on both sides are guilty of ignoring the facts on the other side (though it should come as no surprise that I think it's those on the right who are more blindered).
