sfladave Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Over his career, Vinnie has a 5 - 4 win edge over the Bills... Vinnie's career stats: http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1007 456573 He has never faced this defense, it will be a record setting sack game. However given our run defense of late, Curtis Martin might just have a record setting rushing day.
OGTEleven Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 What about the Jets approaching SD for Phillip Rivers? If they don't think they need a new QB for the future, they're living in denial. Offer SD next years one, and see what happens. I can't see the Jets losing enough games to win the Leinart lottery, so here's a way for them to get a highly rated rookie in mid-season. Is SD willing to let him go now, or are they still trying to figure out if Drew Brees is the real thing. 456634 He must have had a very big signing bonus being number 4 in the draft. If he got a 7 year deal, then SD would have to eat 5/7's of the bonus against next year's cap. That could be a problem. I'm not sure if there are rules against him "paying back" his bonus to the Chargers just before getting a new bonus of equal size from the Jets. In any event, signing Vinny take about an hour. Cutting him would take a minute. Figuring out a deal with Rivers involves a lot more time. If they do it, Vinny is back to the deli.
smokinandjokin Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 In any event, signing Vinny take about an hour. 456652 An hour? Seems long. Here's how it went down- Vinny and Jets brass sit in the best booth at Vinny T's Deli, "Sure to sack your hunger." Jets brass: "Vinny, you know we need you, we're in a spot here. We're willing to give you $1000 per game to be a New York Jet again." Vinny: "$2000." Jets: "1500." Vinny: "$1500, and you pay my Lincoln Tunnel tolls when I drive to the stadium in Jersey." Jets: "Done." Handshakes ensue. Vinny (to former UMiami QB and current short-order cook Gino Torretta)- "Hey Gino, you're in charge for a few months. I'm back in the NFL baby!!!" Gino (sharpening knives): "Oh hey, that's great, I'm...really....happy....for....you"

Nice Gino Toretta reference also! I can see the two guido Miami alums running a deli!

Talonz Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Don't laugh too hard at this signing. Its a very real possibility the J E T S will have a better record when we face them and also at years end
cåblelady Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 ....and to think they say that you can never go home again.
