zow2 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 He still throws a nice ball. Not that I'd want him back but he definitely is better than what JP is now. Hopefully that will change by game #8 or so.

Fezmid Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Sad, but true! 453295 Which is why there were several posters who wanted him to stay for one more year. JPL may do well in the future, but by then our D will be different. Did DB have ~30-50 net yards passing for two games in a row last year? I don't think so (but correct me if I'm wrong). Anyone seeing DB checking off of receivers and throwing the ball away while under pressure as well? Things that a QB can do if his OL can block for him a bit. CW

zow2 Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 The problem with Drew was that he wasn't going to get any better. We saw the best of Bledsoe and it wasn't near good enough. JP stinks right now but at least he has a ton of upside. We can only hope that his upside is better than what we saw out of Bledose his last two years.
mead107 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 goood for drew , still glad he is not here . he would have been sacked 12 times

What the hell does "upside" mean?! We won NINE games last year. Think we're going to win 9 this year? Not if JPL doesn't improve by leaps and bounds. Or is that ok, because he might get better in a few years? (at which time our defense will be completely gone). CW

CoachChuckDickerson Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 But the Bills needed a QB who could scramble...

CW 453330 Look, JP seems like a mistake right now,....a godawful mistake. He missed wide open throws today when he had time. He is not near fast enough in the pocket as we thought he was...his decision making in the clutch is horrible....BUT Drew wasn't getting it done. We won 9 games last year on defense, running and amazing special teams which we will never see again. The Bills needed to take a chance on a young up & coming QB. Keeping Drew around would have been a mistake.
zow2 Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 Bledsoe just threw a beautiful TD pass to LB Tony Parrish of San Francisco. Way to go Drew baby!
eball Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 and he just telegraphed a pick returned for a TD. same old drew.

When we lose without Drew, it's because "everyone except JPL" and/or "JPL will get better." We weren't far off from winning this game. A few balls thrown on target and we probably would've won. CW
Fezmid Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 and he just telegraphed a pick returned for a TD. same old drew. 453372 Difference between this DB pass and many of JPLs passes? The Bucaneers, Texans, and Falcons can't catch their INTs. My point is that it's NOT the QB. You'd think that people would be smart enough to see the following trend: Jim Kelly (in the mid-90s): Terrible looking Todd Collins: Terrible looking AVP: Terrible looking RJ: Terrible looking DF: A few good games, but a lot of terrible looking games DB: Some good games, but a lot of terrible looking games JPL: Very terrible looking What's the lowest common denominator? We have no OL. EDIT: Bledsoe has more yards passing on the last two plays than JPL did all game. But our problem is definately the QB. EDIT2: DB rebounded from his INT by leading a huge drive with a TD pass at the end. And guess what? He had some time to throw. CW

CW 453379 or a few hundred rushing yards less... we ran the ball very well. McGahee is BACK and angry. JP was off target. The playcalling sucked, and JP was definitely not clutch... But, we lost this game because the defense had no answer to the run, red zone defensive coverage broke down, and... oh screw it: everything sucked except for the warrior willis mcgahee.

CW 453379 or perhaps a few less rushing yards given up? good teams don't allow 200 yards+ rushing per game and consistent 3rd and long conversions.
eball Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 well, drew just came back to throw a TD to witten. good for drew.
Risin Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Maybe, but he probably would've seen Moulds wide open by the endzone. CW 453335 Didn't he not see a wide open receiver in the end zone, week 1 or 2 last season?
Fezmid Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Didn't he not see a wide open receiver in the end zone, week 1 or 2 last season? 453438 Possibly (all QBs miss 'em), but everyone complained that DB locked in to Moulds all the time, so it stands to reason that he would've found him for the TD CW
