My wife and I owned a orange tiger cat that we adopted from an animal shelter 4 years ago as a kitten.  He was cute as a button....7 toes on each front foot...he looked like he had mittens on his front paws when he was a kitten...he was such a little knucklehead getting into everything and keeping us busy.....we loved him very much....He was an indoor cat who greeted us everytime we came home and always exposed his belly for a bellyrub when we walked in the door.

About a week ago he started getting really sick....the vet diagnosed him with liver problems and we dropped 500.00 to treat him....fluids...special food...pills...vet visits.  He was not responding and not eating and slept all day and did not move.  I came home today from work to find him drooling and foaming at the mouth from nausea.  I rushed him to the vet and he said the skin in his ears were yellow from jaundice and it was not getting better.  We had to euthanize him and I just got home from the vet about 1 hr ago and I feel awful......my wife took it very hard.

I hope that anyone on this board who jokes about hurting cats and posting avatars with pictures of a gun to a kittens head with the words "DIE" across the top will think twice about how their actions affect others.  It is not funny at all and very immature.  Lets hope this does not happen to any of their pets because it is an awful feeling to have to put a pet to sleep from illness and watch their pet deteriorate.  Thanks for listening :(

Very sorry for your loss. We went through the same thing with our dog a couple of years ago. Its a very difficult time.

That sucks, man. We've only had our dog for 1 1/2 years and I would be beside myself if we had to put her down, let alone see her in pain. I'm sorry to hear you had to do that.

i'm not a cat guy, but i know how it feels to lose a pet and i certainly empathize. give it a little bit of time, and then find yourself a new friend to bring into your family.

Probably sleeping in the wheel well. Younger cats can sprint like a treadmill, then jink to the side by the end of the driveway.

I'm a marginal fan of cats, but we have a couple of outdoor ones that are pretty fun. A few months ago this stray just showed up....little grey guy, sweet as can be. If you showed him some attention, he'd climb right up your arm and perch on yoru shoulder, purring the whole time. I went out to walk my dogs one night about a month ago and saw that the poor guy had gotten hit by a car. That was the first time I really was upset about a cat....I live in a very quiet neighborhood, but these friggin spoiled rich brats go flying up the street at 100mph.....jerks

just reading this thread is depressing, and no joke that invokes cruelity

to animals is funny. It just shows how S.O.S - stuck on stupid- you are.

Try life, sometime. You haven't had much.

You have my heartfelt condolences. I, too, have had to put my 18-year-old (orange) Maine Coon cat and my 12-year-old Chow Chow to sleep. It was important that I was there with them when the time came, but there are few things in life more difficult.

Try to keep in mind that each of our pets will always hold a very special place in our hearts, at a very special time in our lives. But our lives move on, and there are more pets out there waiting for their special time with us.

Here are two great websites to share stories about your favorite cats and dogs: Catster; Dogster.

And, when you are ready to adopt a new pet who desperately needs a loving home, be sure to visit Petfinder. It's where I found my beloved Koko, my Chow-Newfie dog.

My wife and I know how hard it is to say good bye. I cried my eyes out as we put down our much love dog George a stray we welcomed in to our house. We put him down right after the Bills game, a couple of years ago, when lighting hit in the stadium parking lot. I think the nurse wanted to give me the shot instead of George. Time heals. Memories never fade.
