BillsWatch Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8846923 441706[/snapback] No but Bills DID try to get Jennings to play center as he did in college but he didn't want to because other positioins pay more. It works both ways - some of the players who teams want to play center want to play other positions.
OnTheRocks Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 i think it has something to do with their buoyancy.
sweet baboo Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 To think skin color plays an issue in any position anymore would be sad. The belief here is that the best players play, regardless of position. There are no white cornerbacks starting in the NFL, but that's for skill reasons. Nothing else. So an issue isn't made about it. and that's not racism?
Kelly the Dog Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I am as quick to jump on a racial issue and discrimination as anyone but in this case I personally believe that it is an athleticism issue more than racism. I just think centers are never thought (be it true or not) to need to be as gifted or athletic or fast or big or agile as guards and tackles, so coaches would be more inclined to put their bigger or faster or stronger or more athletic of their players at tackle and guard, and that would often be the black guys. For the same reason they play cornerback over safety.
