Losman gets off the hook eh?

"J.P. Losman: It's just going to take more concentration from the whole offense and better execution."

I made a post during the GW era showing that coaches/players on EVERY level of football use that phrase, even the "all mightly" Belichek. I don't think anyone cared to listen to that though.

"We've told the kids, 'Don't panic, just go out and execute,' " he said.

We had guys open.  We had good opportunities.  We have to execute better.  We really didn’t execute well.

"We cut down practice a little bit this morning. We normally go 24 periods but today we cut it to 20. Didn't go full pads like we normally do, we felt like after all that scrimmaging yesterday we couldn't afford to go full pads again so we went shells. We will work again this afternoon. Again, we still get lots of work done and have lots to learn. We just have to get better, have to get better at the little things. The kids' efforts are good and their attitudes are good. We have to execute better."

Your post was executed perfectly while trying to make a point.

The opportune thing is when you only use that excuse once for each kind of mistake. If JP uses it to describe himself throwing into double coverage, and then next time he doesn't, then I'd let it pass.

Problem when Drew used the phrase was he'd do some boneheaded thing like throw the ball away on 4th down, pick the wrong side of the field to defend, etc. Continued making the same damn mistakes, and it rings hollow. Also how he'd say "we" when it was more like "I need to execute better."

I have nothing wrong with what JP said, nor did I when anyone else said it. I just thought it was funny that whenever GW or Bledsoe said it it was the worst thing in the world to people here, but nobody cares if JP says it. I guess as long as you're winning you can say "I'm not even trying that hard anyway." and no one would care.

I think the difference is that after hearing that excuse about 1,000 million times, it gets annoying. JP OTOH had just finished his first game with his new offense, in a game they WON. If he says it another 999 times and in losing efforts, then I'll start to get annoyed as well.
