PIZ Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I think they were quoting some guy named Bob Ryan about the AFC EAST coaching. The quote went on an had an analogy "that in the past Bill Bellechek was playing CHESS while the other coaches were playing checkers. But this year, it is changing, a coach in his own division has IT, and the Patriots will soon be dreading playing against this coach who has IT." So I'm thinking, yeah, Mularkey is finally getting respect. Then the quote goes something like, "the coach was has IT is NICK SABAN." One freakin' game and the guy has IT. I'm sick of the media. No mention of Mularkey. No mention of the Bills ever. All you ever hear about is the Patriots, Mike Vick, the Eagles, Peyton Manning, and now NICK SABAN.

They LOVE it when the Dullfins win. Last year must have been like a hot iron hook twisting in their abdomens.
nick in* england Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Bob Ryan is that sallow faced, big lipped prick who is on ESPNs The Sports Reporters. He's a friggin joke - I NEVER agree with anything he has to say about football... I don't remember which city he is from, but I got a feeling he has a lot to say about the Red Sox and the Patsies so I seem to remember his as a Boston writer. It's really no surprise to heard a POS like Bob Ryan fellate the Felons. Nick Saban is a big news story for the NFL this year and he'll do no wrong all season. The media will excuse this season if he sucks as a rebuilding year for the Felons, and if he does well they'll annoint him the second coming of Bellichik. Who gives a stuff anyway? Buffalo isn't going to get any love until we are 4-0 or 8-2 or something and Berman goes nuts about us. Right then we'll be the town to fellate and the team to rave about. Take the national media with a pinch of salt - they'll big up the Big Market towns because that's where their audiences are. Wait until the playoffs for some live for this team.
bobblehead Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 On that same show, those two were bantying about the question, "Are the Jets the team to challenge N.E. for the AFC East, or is it Miami?" I've been saying this for years here, the mainstream sports media will always pick Miami, always. No matter how good or bad they are. Miami is the "cajun chicken sandwich" of football. Every chain resturant out there offers a cajun chicken sandwich, and every mainstream sports media outlet considers Miami a contender every year. I am glad, though that Buffalo is under the radar. I'd much rather have Buffalo get a few wins before people notice.

Not sure if he still is but he used to be a reporter for the Boston Globe I believe. Miami, NYJ, NYG, Dallas and the Raiders will always get the media love unfortunately.

I called him up and reamed him for his readily apparent lack of football knowledge.
BuckeyeBill Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 How does ANYBODY think that Miami will challenge New England. I don't even see Miami challenging to go 3rd in the division.

ganesh Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Nick saban has been given the golden glove treatment since he was labeled as the Belichek protege...Anything goes...Again this is all the medias ways to build up matchups before the games so that they can hype it up and get in the spotlight..... BTW, Bob ryan is a boston based idiot, who used to come on the ESPN sports reporters show and also substituted for Tony Kornheiser...Real bum BTW, MM is still learning the ropes....He is not there yet..He needs to get a couple of upsets against the Steelers/Colts/Ravens/Patriots before he will be called to play chess rather than checker.
