Is it wise

why the hand-wringing over this move? entertainment in the locker room aside, what's the big loss if schneck can LS for both punts and kicks? do different NFL teams have the punter/kicker positioned at different distances from the LOS? i don't think so. schneck is regarded as an excellent LS'er.

c'mon, JSP...you're better than this, man.

to cut a pretty solid long snapper just days before the opener?

I can see the first game's punts and extra points being nailbiters.

Schneck was considered one of the best LS'ers in the NFL. And apparently Dorenbos wasn't consistent enough for the Bills, which is the reason why they had Duke Preston LS'ing (and who will probably be the LS'er next year, saving a roster spot). It's too bad because of JD's story and all, but there was a reason for it.

Have to wonder if it's possible some of Lindells problems aren't the snapping.  Getting back quickly enough or in right location for the holder to get it down quickly.  Maybe Dorenbos was a liability there.

good god...it if ends up being that simple, i'm a little perturbed that they didn't straighten it out before now.

Not saying that is the case. But I have heard of it with other kickers. Typically it is a prblem with the ball not getting back quick enough and the kicker having to adjust and hurry his step to compensate after the ball is down.

It is a possibility and maybe the Bills didn't have another choice until this guy from Pittsburgh became available.

I'm not so sure it is that simple

i have read in the past that the Bills though Dorenbos had really good velocity on his snaps - particularly for punting. moorman has praised him many a time

Also - Dorenbos didn't LS for placekicks, Teague does - so if Schneck can take the load off there its good - but don't forget the LS on PAT and FGs has to do some blocking too

i would guess that if something is done, we'll hear about it today or tomorrow.

JD's velocity was fine...it was his placement that was apparently the problem. And since he was only the LS'er on punts, he's WAY too much of a specialist. You want a guy who can do both, and do both well.
