We usually keep 5 (6 if we have a specialist, I.E. Antonio Brown). I figured we would keep 6 with Roscoe's injury. But 7?! And keeping 5 Safeties isn't necessary in my opinion either. I'm a little worried about depth. We only have 3 DE's and 4 CB's. Plus, only 9 OL and only two of the backups are worth a damn. I hope we pick some guys up. A DE and a new kicker would be nice

A DE and a new kicker would be nice 428534 I'm pretty suprised "Fast Freddy" Smith made the team. I don't think he brings much to the table as a wr, or a punt returner. He's not very fast, he doesn't run great routes, or do much of anything particularly well. The lack of depth at de bothers me. We don't have the best de's to begin with. I think we're weak in run defense when teams run off tackle at us, and should schobel go down we're pretty much sol. I'd also like a true pass rush de, but that's a story for another time. Looking at the dt list, and seeing what the colts signed simon for I'm rather dissapointed. Adams is 30+, Edwards is in the last year of his contract, and wasn't all that great as a starter the last time around. Maybe he's improved now, but if he does have a big year that's big money he's gonna want. Anderson/Bannan/Sape are all question marks who aren't teribly experienced with playing time. The cb depth doesn't bother me. Once Thomas comes back it'll look good, Need be I'd also feel comfortable with vincent moving back to corner and having Rashad Baker play fs. I like Baker. He's young has a nose for the ball and looks like a future starter at fs for us. Coy Wire is the only option there at ss as Baker and Leonhard at natural fs's. Leonhard would be a horrible fit for how we use ss in jerry grays defense.
stuckincincy Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 7 WRs for a power running team? 428553 7 WR's for the powers running the team. I wonder if it's acceptable to have a non-power running team.

Of course we could always cut a WR if we find a DE on the waiver wire we like or maybe Donahoe is hoping to trade a WR like Reed. Also, While we only have 4 listed CBs let's not forget that Troy Vincent can play there if needed. Also as mentioned if Thomas can recover from injury there's are 5th CB.
BillsWatch Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Bannan plays DE as well as DT which provides some depth.

jwatts97 Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 PS is tomorrow after 4 PM Eastern I believe. I know tomorrow is right not sure about the time.
Mile High Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Looking at the roster I'd say that the playbook has doubled with the departure of Drew. It will be more opened up than last year and we're going to se some things that we haven't seen before. I think they are going to be spreading the field out more. McNallly and Mularkey must feel pretty confident in the younger lineman and the draft picks. It looks thin to me but we'll see. RB depth to me looks more solid than it did last year. I'm prretty excited to see this trio in action. Defense looks the same to me except for the DE position. Looks like kind of an errogant move to me.
BillsWatch Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Maybe Krumrie told TD that hed' go back into game if we lost one of our DE's?
Sound_n_Fury Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 7 WRs for a power running team? 428553 Fast Freddie will be gone the second one of the PUP guys is ready.
Horus Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I dont understand how FF Smith beats out Haddad....I didnt see Smith do anything compared to Haddad....did I miss something?
The Jokeman Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I dont understand how FF Smith beats out Haddad....I didnt see Smith do anything compared to Haddad....did I miss something? 428640 Maybe you missed the fact that in his rookie season Smith had more receptions (3) than Haddad had in his five year career (1). Maybe you missed that Smith has returned a punt return for a TD not to mention he was drafted by the current regime where Haddad was a Butler pick. Truth be told Smith and Haddad are very similar but Smith is younger and has a little more proven in the NFL.
BRH Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I don't really put much stock in what position the last six or seven guys on the team play. The only place those guys are going to contribute is on special teams, so they made the team because they're good special teamers. As for depth at a particular position, perhaps the Bills feel that if it really comes down to needing another body at that position, they can get one off the waiver wire when they need one. Until then they don't see the need to carry an insurance policy that's not as good on ST as someone who happens to play a position the Bills are deep at.
