#89 Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 With all that is going on my heart just isn't in watching a football game. It will cost $15 to park - $30-35 for gas. Then food. Traveling and sitting alone. I should just stay home and donate the $ to the relief effort. My tickets are paid for since they are seasons.

I offered to give my tickets away but there were no takers. Oh well.. it will be the regular season soon enough.
Fezmid Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I'd disagree. You can't let the world get you down. You need to go to the game to stop thinking about the terrible news, at least for a few hours. It's theraputic. Plus, you can get some hugs from the players. That has to be worth it, no? CW

A few days after 9/11, I went to the movies despite not feeling like it. The couple hours' distraction helped my mental state immensely. Getting away from the news for a little while will help, trust me.

CW 426513[/snapback] No doubt you are correct CW. #89, why don't you do both? I donated $50 to the Red Cross yesterday at work, and I'm going to the game tonight to have a few beers and watch a couple JP touchdown drives. If you take that attitude you have now, you will always be able to find something in the world to feel down about and make you not want to get outta bed. Certainly feel sad, and help where you can, but also feel blessed that you are healthy and can do the things you love. Don't waste your tickets- there's a lot of people in N.O. who would love to be going to a preseason game tonite.
stevestojan Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Not using my ticket either. Has nothing to do with the money or the N.O. situation. I just cant justify driving to Orchard Park and paying $6 a beer to watch backup Detroit Lions. Hell, I'd barely do it for the starters. Just 9 more days.... 9 more days.
The Poojer Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 what good does it do anyone not to go? are you going to pack relief packages instead of going? can't stop living. nick in* england Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 #89 - go to the game. Fez is right - don't let it get you down. It is sad and all - but if we all had to stay indoors eating ice cream and feeling bad every time the world was crappy we'd never go out. Celebrate tonight what is good about America by going to a football game. Celebrate - and remember the suffering at the same time - sheesh, guys like Eric Moulds have GOT to be there, so help them in this hard time and support.
#89 Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 Well I let fate make the choice for me. I stated that if they let us out of work at 2 I would have time to go to the game. Guess what. Out at 2 and off to the game. At least I can give Jeff his Tailgate T-shirt.
