Considering it's a law enforcement issue, and the military's constitutionally forbidden from enforcing domestic law... My brother's a cop up here. If he did that, I wouldn't ever speak to him again. It has to do with those big words like oaths, duty and honor that are sometimes the only things that keep you going when the sh-- hits the fan. The Supreme Court has recognized that. Boots on the ground on Tuesday morning would have been appropriate. There is no reason this thing has not been under control. The mayor took them of enforcing order and put them on rescue work early. In hindsight, that was almost certainly a mistake, and killed more people long-term than it saved short-term. And the doctor sounds like she expects it for some reason. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I would really be more pissed at the jackasses shooting at my staff and patients, than sit there and curse the army for not stopping them. There are also pretty liberal interpretations of what is law enforcement, and what isn't. I would personally prefer not to see title 10 forces mixed up in anything that involves shooting people. Had to hire armed guards to escort people to and from their cars...and no one was allowed outside for a smoke because people would take potshots at them. Everyone laments the fact that the "cultural" New Orleans is gone, when in fact the majority of the city was seriously crime ridden and filthy a long time ago. After dark, you had to go to the lobby and wait for security to drive you to satellite lots they had leased from a church and Trico. The security guard who drove us was packing heat.
