Apparently, many of you guys were wrong.  Countries from around the world are pledging their support.

I did hear that the Russians pledged aid and we refused.

Sorry JSP no link, I heard it on the radio. It may or may not be legit.

Tell them thanks, but no thanks.

You may want to rethink what you said. For example, the Dutch are the leading experts in water management after having to deal with their own problems. It would be stupid to turn them down.

I'm just being cynical about how the world was critiacal of us when we weren't doing 'enough' for the Tsunami relief effort. Quit being so rigid Peter.

How about free gasoline from Kuwait?

If it weren't for the U.S. they would all be dead or in prison.

How about free oil from Iran?

We gave them aid after that big earthquake kicked their ass.

How about oil from the evil communist dictatorship of Venezuela led by Chavez the prick? From the link posted in the other thread:

"Venezuela's government, which has had tense relations with Washington, offered humanitarian aid and fuel. Venezuela's Citgo Petroleum Corp. pledged a $1 million donation for hurricane aid."

Chavez the Prick Indeed

"That man, the king of vacations ... the king of vacations in his ranch said nothing but, you have to flee, and didn't say how ... that cowboy, the cowboy mentality," said Chavez, chuckling in a reference to Bush without naming him directly.

Chavez, an outspoken populist who calls Cuba's Fidel Castro an ally, often lambastes what he calls Washington's failed imperialist policies. He says the Bush administration is trying to assassinate him and calls the U.S. president "Mr. Danger."

Nevertheless, they did in fact offer aid. And, in this case at least, there may be quite a few Americans who agree with what Chavez is saying.

Quite a few Americans agreed with Pat Robertson. It doesn't mean either one is a good guy or worth listening to.
