30dive Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Actually, I thought the Sponge Bob reference was pretty funny. That said, the purpose of my question is to see were the NFL stands. My thinking is there will be NFL games this weekend and New Orleans will play football, albeit not in New Orleans. I'm just wondering what the plan might be, have they said anything?

Puhonix Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Saints games are of secondary importance. Lets hope the city can recover. That being said, I can imagine the Superdome being used at all this year. Not due to the damage to the dome, but the damage to the city and the surrounding area. It'd be like flying into Chernobyl for a game, and the flying out. The city is abandoned, and those still there, are being told to leave.
30dive Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 insensitive bastard 422747 I've been told that before.....That said I will repeat what I said in out TailGate section. It may be selfish, horrible, whatever you want to call it, to be concerned about a simple football game, considering what has just happened to those poor souls in the Gulf Region, I do and will continue to pray and keep those good people in my thoughts. Isn't it natural to wonder this, many of us have spent a great deal of money, taken time off and were so very much looking forward to seeing/meeting each other. I do not need to know wether the Buffalo Bills will be playing in New Orleans NOW, but at some point, probably sooner rather than latter we all will need to know. It is not likely that they will play any games very soon in New Orleans but maybe all of us who had planed to go there can still go to where they will play and set up something nice to do while "there", donate blood, money, hold a raffle, do something postitve by Bills fans for the New Orleans community. God Speed New Orleans, et al...
Buftex Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I was just on one of thier fan sites, LSU is one of the possibilities as well as the Alamodome in texas. 422591 I have been hearing the rumour down this way (Austin TX) that San Antonio is a likely spot...the Saints have had exhibition games there over the years, and, if I am not mistaken, even had some training camps there, in the past, when there were weather problems in New Orleans....
BillnutinHouston Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 The Alamodome in San Antonio would be an amazing turn of events for me as it would be a 25 minute commute. But the news reports last night (think it was NFL Live or something similar on NFL Network) indicated they should have the repairs done well before the Saints first home game.

As for opening day I would imagine they will see what happens in the next couple of days before making a decision, however it's highly unlikely they would play in N.O.

Unfair! Nazis!!! Bush!!!, ad infinium... Pay no attention to that looter, er, voter!

Things are different now.
ExiledInIllinois Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Not sure what is going to happen... I was gonna book my flight to NO for the Oct. 2nd game this past Sunday... Good thing I didn't! Don't know what is going to happen? Houston is close... Memphis a possibility?
ExiledInIllinois Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Play it in OP. It's an official NFL field that will be available that weekend. Sell all the tix and donate 100% of the proceeds to Katrina Reliefs funds. 422671 I can see Houston being a problem even if their stadium is available for the Bills' game... What about other NO home games? I like the Memphis idea... The flyin' thumbtacks played there while Nashville was getting ready. And I wouldn't fly... Just drive the 7-8 hour trip down I-57!!! Selfish, selfish I know.

30dive Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Memphis would be great! My flight to New Orleans is through Memphis. On Northwest Airlines

Here is the direct link from the paper, (sorry, had to check it out rather than rely on someones blog) San Antonio press article
Fezmid Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I have a great idea -- give Buffalo an extra home game!!!
