AiO Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Don't know why, but this popped into my head as I was in the middle of my morning constitutional. To the tune of "When the Saints Come Marching In" Call 644 9700... 422470 You BASTARD. Every time I hear "When the Saints..." I think the same thing.
SDS Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 You BASTARD. Every time I hear "When the Saints..." I think the same thing. 422473 could you explain this to the younger crowd here?
theesir Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 could you explain this to the younger crowd here? 422475 I agree, 36 year Buffalonian, remembers every annoying jingle from growing up, but this one escapes me.
AiO Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 could you explain this to the younger crowd here? 422475 I'm PRETTY SURE it's from the local feed of the MDA telethon. That was the number to call. And if it's not...it doesn't matter, because I STILL hear it in my head when I hear "When the Saints Go Marching In."
Ennjay Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Variety Club Telethon on Channel 7. Longtime fixture back in the day. I guess they don't do that anymore?

I guess they don't do that anymore? 422491 Maybe they do and I just don't watch. I used to see it because my grandparents would babysit my sister and myself for the weekend and that's what they would be watching. I still don;t remembr the music and #, but I do rememeber that they would read the name of the donors on the air and scroll them at the bottom of the screen, so we would always donate 10 bucks or so, so that we could "be on TV".
The Poojer Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 sorry but the wayback machine to me is Sherman and Peabody, Peabody's Improbable History, with Professor Whoopie(?)

Variety Club Telethon The rest of the song was a twist on "Oh Lord I want to be in that number," probably something about calling that number for the telethon. Now I'll probably spend the rest of the day trying to remember.
Beerball Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Now I'll probably spend the rest of the day trying to remember. 422518 Good.

As I'm now in hour number TWO of hearing that song, at least I'll pretend I know the rest of the words.
The Poojer Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 maybe I can help clear your head! OOOOOHHHHHHHHH.............................. ........You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come in to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music’s high With a bit of rock music, everything is fine You’re in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on Leave them burning and then you’re gone Looking out for another, anyone will do You’re in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen Thank you.
