stuckincincy Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I think that's the case only if you list him as your emergency QB ie don't use one of the players on your active roster. If you list him active for the game than he can come in anytime/be replaced etc. 421186 Yep...the "third" qb doesn't take up an active spot for that game day. If you put him in and he's not active, those special rules kick in. Heck, if he was active, Sape could play qb. In 2003, the B'gals started 0 and 4, with then-rookie Palmer at the #2 spot. When they won a few games, they put Shane Matthews into the #2 and dropped Palmer to #3 in case Kitna got banged up. As it turned out, Kitna had a good year and took every snap for the entire season.
rockpile Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 but its shane friggin matthews! Why waste a roster spot on him when you could at least keep someone with an ounce of potential... 421054 Matthews has at least an ounce of potential and I believe he provides value to JP as a mentor. I liked Woodbury after watching him in camp, but I would not keep him over Matthews.
nemhoff Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Gates made Lee get the boot. Lee did not do anything to stand out in any of the games that I saw. And I think that a big part of this whole cut is that Gates is proving that he is worth much more than a 7th round pick.
