MadBuffaloDisease Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I pray to mother nature that the storm doesn't hit NO. That would be devastating.
cåblelady Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 good think I went in 2002 420809 Maybe they'll have to move the 10/2 game to Buffalo.
VABills Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 How bad is the storm surge from the gulf going to be. New Orleans is all ready at/below sea level. This will cause some huge flooding. Seems like that would be more damaging then even the winds from a cat 5.

kasper13 Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 "160 MPH winds gusting to 196 MPH." There is nothing good about that statement at all. Expected to hit NO at 2am as a category 4 hurricane. 90 degree water in the Gulf turned this into an even bigger monster of a storm.
Crap Throwing Monkey Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 And oh-by-the-way, this thing's roaring straight through the Gulf oil producing, refining, and shipping regions. Oil's probably going to go nuts next week.

Lake Pontchartrain? If Katrina hits, the city is going to be under several feet of water and sewage will be floating everywhere. I hope FEMA has already begun mobilizing.
kegtapr Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 http://www.wunderground.com/data/640x480/2xg1_ir_anim.gif Get out of dodge New Orleans. I hope the levees hold. Otherwise.......
cåblelady Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Lake Pontchartrain? 420826 That's it. Thanx, MBD.

kegtapr Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Nice site, thanks. This is Hurricaine Andrew all over again. 420831 If all the ingredients come together they would be lucky to have damage on the scale of Andrew. New Orleans could become Atlantis...at least for a few days.
BillsWatch Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Storm Image http://orca.rsmas.miami.edu/wximages/jet/1_05/anis.html This is from CajunBillsBacker (Joey) who told me that they are having a first ever in history mandatory evacuation now.
buffalo mike Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I'd get my ass to the Super Dome. Should be plenty of beer and preetzels to honker down.
Just Jack Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Anyone see Oil Storm on FX a couple months ago? Very similar situation with a huge hurricane heading towards LA oil refineries.
Ramius Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Just bumped up to 175 mph sustained winds...this is one big damn storm...they are calling for storm surge o f30+ feel right now...not looking too good for the big easy...

That's unheard of. Worst part is there isn't much to weaken the storm. No upper level winds, no land, no cooler waters. Damn.
