BRH Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Can't authenticate to my server at work when I try to sign in.
BillsWatch Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Pretty interesting.... Link 416607 Article on it: http://finance.myway.com/ht/nw/bus/2005082...-n23558759.html Notice the quote from article: In order to verify the identity of new Gmail users, Google sends new subscribers a sign-up link in the form of a mobile phone text message to whatever telephone they provide. Not as simple as it appears especially if you want to sign up multiple computers and if you do not have a mobile phone.

I downloaded TALK about a week ago and it didn't have to use a mobile phone. I already have a gmail account, and it set up through that.
Webster Guy Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Yahoo Messenger (newer Beta version) has that feature as well.
BRH Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Mine set up through my gmail account but still won't authenticate to my work server. Documentation is very spotty and basically just says that it should work. (I can sign in via Microsoft Messenger, but GoogleTalk won't work.)
scribo Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I have the Yahoo beta version, and I cannot get that to authenticate on my work server either.
bill in Livonia Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I loaded the google talk softwear but i come up with a message;"a divice attached to the system is not functioning" The mic/phone jacks are plogged in. Oh!, just had a thought. ... Ill bet that it is because I have road runner.
jarthur31 Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Yahoo Messenger (newer Beta version) has that feature as well. 416699 The previous version of YIM had that too. That beta has now gone final.
Assquatch Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I'm not sure what that's talking about. I downloaded TALK about a week ago and it didn't have to use a mobile phone. I already have a gmail account, and it set up through that. 416680 It says they send the text message to new gmail users, not new users of Talk.
