Lori Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Wyche was getting ready for practice, so this must have been taped a couple hours ago.... JP is a little better every time he goes out, makes a play out of a busted play (Montana was mentioned briefly here)... but like a lot of young players, he's still got a lot to learn. Wyche compared it to telling a kid "don't touch that stove", knowing they're going to touch that stove anyway (and learn the lesson the hard way)... Has to control his scrambling, go through progressions. Like a lot of QBs with good mobility, there are times when he's too quick to rely on his feet. Hard worker, smart, studies hard, puts in extra time - "he's got everything going for him". Asked about the o-line's reaction to swapping a pocket QB like DB for a scrambler like Losman - it gives them some confidence that even if they miss a block, the QB might be able to get out of the way and still make a play. Compared his mobility to Steve Young/McNabb. At one point, SW started to make a point about the 13-second play in Saturday's game, then stopped and asked "who did we play? Oh yeah, Green Bay" or words to that effect. Eisen ended the interview by reminding him that the Bills play the Bears this week - to which Wyche asked, "are we home or away?" Since this was on Total Access, infinite rebroadcasts will follow. To catch the Wyche interview, start watching approx. 10 minutes before the end of the show....
BillsGuyInMalta Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I love hearing Wyche interviews. He always comes off as having this "I cant believe they actually pay me to do this" feeling in terms of his love for the game. Plus...come on...he called the old Bucs logo gay. You have to love that honesty.

I hope they don't get lazy.
