UConn James
Players had finished listening to coach Mike Nolan address them in a postgame meeting when Herrion collapsed. Was the speech that bad? Sad news.
Mickey
That is just terrible. My heart goes out to his family and the entire Forty Niner's team.
Golden Wheels
Temperatures were in the mid-60s with 50 percent humidity Saturday night in Denver -- I'd be surprised if he died of heat stroke like Stringer. Just horrible news. SF Chronicle
Buffalo Proud
An article in the Deseret Morning News in August 2003 said Herrion became a 3.2-GPA student at Utah, after not qualifying academically for the NCAA out of high school. Herrion told that paper that beyond hopes for an NFL career, he wanted "to get into corrections, work on my Master's and get my teaching degree and go back to my high school and just work with kids." Corp000085
RIP terrible news for that man's family and team. With that being said, i'm quite interested to hear what killed that guy. Based on the weather, you'd almost have to eliminate heat stroke... Again, RIP
Surfmeister
I'm 6'4" and weight 215. That guy was a bit shorter than me and weighed about a hundred pounds more. That is a big strain on his heart when he's at rest. Then for him to go full force in a game ... It's very sad and his family must be in shock. The poor kid had the best of his life in front of him. Clockwork
This is bad. Does anyone even know the actual cause of death? Was it heat related?

Golden Wheels
An autopsy was perfomed in Denver today, but the doctors could not determine the cause of Herrion's death. They said they will have to wait for the results of the toxicology results, which could take 3 to 6 weeks. AP
JoeF
Just finished a 14 play hurry up drive, with two or three penalties. Played with Alex Smith, 49ers rookie QB and top NFL draft pick, at U of U. RIP--
Wacka
It was in the low 60s at game time , so it wasn't the heat. They were in a prayer circle in the locker room and he just keeled over dead. Maybe it was an anuryism? You can drop dead from that. Seeing the news here in the SF area, shows just how the Niners are viewed. It was the third or forth story on the evening news. In Buffalo, they would have led with it or even broke into regular programming.
