PromoTheRobot Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I made the drive to Bills Training camp from NH today, just in time for Schopp and the Dope on WGR. I had to shut them off. They are unlistenable!! Is there anyone less funny and more contrived than Bulldog? Bills talk? Forget it...just endless indignant proclamations from Bulldog and Schopp about the NHL on OLN. You made your point the first 600 times, guys. Note to Brad Reiter: Let those nitwits and Paul Hamilton know they sound like jilted school girls when the cry about the Bills refusal to discuss injuries. Stop acting like you represent the fans...you don't. Second note to Brad Reiter: McGahee was practicing with the team today. So much for your conspiracy theory...unless the Bills are making Willis practice with an injured leg so they sell more season tickets...hmmmm. God, Buffalo needs a REAL sports talk station! PTR

AJ1 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hnmmmmm. My station will be called The Real Sportstalk. What do you think? T_R 411671 Think you need about $300,000 and a FCC license to get a podunk 1000 watt station on the air. But sight unseen it would be better than GR. BTW, I've never seen Schopp. Does he weigh about 300# and never played a game or was he just born an arrogant a-hole?

JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 The problem with WGR, IMHO, is that they've cultivated this atmosphere of opposition. None of the hosts could cut it on their own, so they've paired everyone up and told them to take different sides of whatever they're discussing. THis way there's always an argument and listeners can always agree with / disagree with one of them. However, they've carried this over to their dealings with just about everyone, trying to force an argument. They've taken on the personality (using that term very loosely) of Jerry Sullivan. You know what else pi$$es me off about WGR - after each news segment they do at least 8 freaking minutes of commercials! I haven't quite figured out why having less of talk shows I don't like is a bad thing, but it is . I think I just have to stop listening.
EndZoneCrew Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Give me a break....it's not that bad....what do you want them to do???? Tell you that JP will throw for 4,000 yards and 35 TD's.....they are there to get ratings....not to please dudes like you!

SDS Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 That is why I listen to Tony Kornheiser when available. If the sports ain't interesting he talks about life. I would much rather listen to an entertaining conversation about a kitchen cabinet installation than a forced sports convo on a slow news day.
EndZoneCrew Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 have to work late tomorrow and early saturday or else i'd go 411840 WEAK...from J Zuber and J Hill
buckeyemike Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 By nature, sports talk show hosts are generally weenies who couldn't even get onto their high school's teams. So by extension, most sports talk radio stations can become rather shrill quickly...program directors have an awful lot of time to fill between the commercials for beer and internet gambling. They do provide a valuable purpose, however...discussion of sports-related topics, even if many of their opinions are asinine. This is still America, where 300 million people hold 300 million opinions of everything from football to what brand of toothpaste they use. I'm just glad that we have the ability to speak out, despite political correctness. And also the ability to call out other people whose opinions are just plain stupid. I listen to WGR when I can pull it in on my car radio...it's the only Buffalo station I can get here in Cleveland. And when I disagree with the hosts, I change the station until the Bills updates come on. Mike

Fake-Fat Sunny Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 I think folks should use the potential power of the Internet and TSW to organize something that will force them to make changes or simply not bother posting about the stupid personalities there. I find it fair game and interesting to readand post about the occaisional interesting issue that the bring up that is posted on TSW but in general the only thing worse than those folks whining with no real impact on an issue is folks whining about them with no real impact. If folks are really concerned about their antics then organize a series of phone calls to one of their major sponsors saying you will not buy their products unless the demonstrably change their antics. Alternately if you don't think this will work fine then organize something through our talk on TSW that you think will work. Otherwise just let it go because the pointless complaints here sound a lot like them.
