"McGahee's agent Drew Rosenhaus declined comment"

Recommended Posts

You're missing the good news in all of this:  If McGahee is able to put his foot that far into his mouth, his knee's GOT to be feeling better.

I still think we keep both of them even going into next year... hear me out...

If we trade one of them, the other one will have all the leverage in the world to hold out of camp next year and try to force a re-negotiation of his contract... if we have both of them, neither one will hold out... remember what happened to Duce Staley when he held out with a year still left on his contract?  Duce screwed himself because they could afford to let him sit... if either one of these two try to pull that crap (more likely Henry since he has one yr left after this year), we can let him sit because we still have the other one and who cares if one wants to hold out.

If we trade McGahee, Travis can easily hold out for a TON of money next year... and if we trade Travis, Willis can either try to make his money with incentives or hold out and re-negotiate his contract without most $ coming in incentives... I'm guess he would hold out for a new contract, one without so many incentives.

just some thoughts... I'm probably missing some things and I'm sure you people will point them out to me... so let's hear it...

Mike,

I agree with you that we should, and believe that we certainly will, keep both this season, but for somewhat different reasons.

We are talking about a guy who hasn't proven anything yet except that his leg is feeling better and he's shaken off some of the rust in a scrimmage against another team's back-ups.

These guys are competittors, and candidly they are going to probably say that they both want to, and think they should be, the man. That is a GOOD thing. The bad thing is, media love a controversy. It's what sells! And they are going to try to bait these guys into revealing those feelings and blow it out of proportion.

Here's a possible scenario:

Reporter: So your're close to Willis, is he happy playing back-up?

SourceClosetoWG: Well, Willis is a competitor and he wants to show what he can do. His goal is certainly to start.

Reporter: There have been some rumors that one of the Bills' backs might be traded before the season even starts. How would Willis feel if he were traded?

Source: Well, Willis is happy as a Bill, but should a trade occur, I'm sure he would want it to be to a team for whom he could start.

Reporter: Thank-you!

Ergo, Willis wants to be traded if he can't start.

From everything that Willis has said that was directly quoted from him, he knows he's not there yet. He was admittedly nervous about playing, even in the scrimmage. He is still getting his bearings and has downplayed for the most part what he's accomplished so far, as well he should.

Then, suddenly, he has gone to start me or trade me? Absolute nonesense!

I know none of us WANT it to be true, but rarely does the AP make up a story unless that "source close to" is very close. The AP knows who the person is, it wasnt a prank call, they are simply saying they promised this person, who they know is close to Willis, that they would keep it anonymous.

Another bad thing is "McGahee's agent Drew Rosenhaus declined comment". If this was so far fetched, why would his agent not just squash the rumor so as to avoid his client being uncomfortable.

This doesnt look good right now.

BUT, it could be worse... we always have Travis   (What a great move two drafts ago TD... we now have all the leverage in the world).

And by the way, if he does get traded, his Jersey that I paid $80 for will now forever become my "dirty towel"...

"this means something folks"

yeah, it means you and a bunch of others are over-reacting. yeah, the media is ALWAYS credible. Especially when they can get even more mileage out of this "controversy".

One man's trash (Antowain "2 rings" Smith, 177 yards rushing in 2 SBs) is another man's treasure!

Speaking of that, how's Corey doing? Been making any comments?

I expect both clubs will be "plain vanilla" throughout Saturday's PS game, since they meet again in December.

Nothing yet... very vanilla, kind of like tomorrow's game will be. He got a hero's welcome () last Friday at Gillette.

Rodney Harrison (among others) has been putting the wood to him well in practice, almost like they're 'testing' him. The Pats need another RB, IMO - I'm not sold on Dillon, Faulk is a change of pace guy, and Cobbs hasn't even practiced yet.
