34-78-83 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Are you typing while sitting in a porno theatre? 409874 Well I am in a building with no windows and poor lighting, but the comparisons stop there I believe
JoeF Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Dealing with the media and fans-really good, his approach is understated, matter of fact and not cliche driven. He is a little cloak and dagger with team information/injury updates--but I think he views this as competitive advantage. Motivational-I think he has won this team over big time. The guys like playing for him. He seems to have built up a lot of trust just by being honest--even when the message is difficult (like the one's he's had to deliver to Mike Williams, Drew and Travis). Strategy-Risk taking is good..scheming to beat an opponent with equal and/or better talent is much better--jury is still out here in my mind. Bum Phillips once said about Don Shula--he could take his'ins and beat your'ins and he could take your'ins and beat his'ins--Mularkey has to prove he is that kind of coach. Game management-I think he learned a ton last year and you will see it on the field this year.. So I am really glad he is our coach--much better choice for where the Bills were than Siefert , Coughlin, Jauron, and some of the others. It still would have been interesting to see what Fassell could have done--but the Giants apparently gave Ralph a bad personal recommendation (obviously firing him was not the best professional recommendation). Is he the next great coach--jury is still way out...
Zona Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 i don't think it can be overstated, how much the bills' offense was hamstrung by having bledsoe behind center last year. before judging MM for the team's offensive production, we need to let a season play out in which he has some decent material (losman/holcomb) to work with. i also believe your conclusions about the line play and losman after one preseason game are a little short-sighted. give the team some time to gel -- there are a lot of new pieces here and your expectations are a bit unrealistic at this point. regardless, thanks for your opinions. i don't agree with them, but they make for lively discussion. 409642 I agree with you Eball. This guy was brought in to be an Offensive "genious". He was described as Creative, innovative, etc. How in the Hell can you do that with a Drew Bledsoe. You need a Slash type of player, and JP will be several times better than Kordell Stewart because he can THROW. And he can throw on the run. JP has a proven record of not throwing picks in College. If he keep protecting the ball against NFL caliber defenses, we will be fine... You cant tell that with 1 preseason game against a team of back-ups. I will reserve judgment on MM and JP until at least 5-6 games into the season. Hell, 2 seasons ago, the Bills looked great at 2-0 after the Jacksonville game. People were talking SB. yeah, we were 6-10 that year.
