TSNBDSC
Well, just like there's one team that gets to Mariano Rivera (the division rival Red Sox, thanks to the familiarity), there was one team that got the better of Marino. Marino faced the Buffalo Bills 30 times in his career, and faced Bruce Smith on most of those occasions. Smith recently retired as the all-time sack king, with 200. He had his moments against Dan — getting to him 9.5 times — and Dan had his moments against Bruce. The Bills defeated Marino 17 times in 30 regular season games, and then were 3-1 against Marino in the playoffs. In the 1990 divisional round, in Buffalo, the Bills defeated the Dolphins 44-34. In the 1992 AFC championship game, in Miami, the Bills defeated the Dolphins 29-10, as Smith sacked Marino twice. And in a 1995 first round game, in Buffalo, the Bills prevailed over Marino's Dolphins 37-22. In 1998, the Dolphins recorded a playoff victory over Buffalo, 24-17, in a game played in Miami. In three of Marino's prime years, his team was eliminated by Buffalo, because his defense allowed a combined 110 points in the three losses. Marino's regular season winning percentage against all teams except Buffalo: .638. He won less frequently (.433) against the Bills. In the postseason, Marino was 8-6 against everyone but the Bills, and 1-3 against Buffalo. ... enjoy your Sunday ! ... tom
