#89 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 In May the tree on the corner went down. It was daylight so the loss of electricity wasn't so bad. I drove to the casino to pass the time. Last night was the worse storm I can remember. The sheets of rain made it impossible to see across the street. 'Then the huge Crack and you knew another tree landed somewhere. Two houses away. Out went the lights, off went the fans and talk about HOT. My Sister drove to my mothers to sleep and I went out on the front porch until all the sightseers started driving by. GOOD grief, you can't see anything in the pitch black night with no street lights. The servers at work were down until Noon so here I am. Not well rested but reading the camp reports. I'm going back the 10th, 15th and 22nd Yes, all nights.

We got hammered the day before. Thankfully only lost power for 5-6 hours and am also greatful that none of my trees blew over. You are right about being a very bad storm; reminded me somewhat of the bad ones we have rode out in Puerto Rico.

Josh Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 That was Olean's worst storm in years, the wind really picked up to incredible speed during the last few minutes...the power went on and off a few times then was completely off until 12:22 am. It sucks though, because I walked down to a different block and saw house lights on and everything. Unfair.
#89 Posted August 4, 2005 Author Posted August 4, 2005 I found my garbage can yesterday. I'm happy. (it was empty)
Beerball Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Did it take out any Boyscouts? 397449[/snapback] No, but #89 took some in. She found a pack wandering the streets looking for people in need...

I tried to call around 4 in the afternoon and the phones weren't working. Was that because of the storm too?
