The Poojer Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 As do I!!! Stern, NFL, NBA & Radio Margaritaville!!!!!!!!!!!! wait til you see the new recievers they will be coming out with, a real nice slim line car reciever and a nice walk-around to compete with xm's myfi I love Sirius Radio. 393196
LabattBlue Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I love Sirius Radio. 393196 I'll like it more when they come out with a walkman style receiver. XM has had one on the market for at least a few months now. When you inquire at Sirius about when they will be coming out with something like this, you get a big fat "no comment".

Have you heard the timeframe for when Sirius will be debuting this receiver? Thanks!

I had to sit outside on my deck and hold the little antenna up in the air and face a certain direction. In my house there was no reception. I ended up returning it cause it was a pain and it was $300. Hopefully the Sirius one is better, or else they work out the kinks in the next year or so.
drunkenirishmann Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm torn on whether to sign up for SIRIUS or XM radio. I would be using it primarily for sports radio (NFL).....any suggestions on which has the better package?
Puhonix Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm an XM man myself. I'd love to have the NFL, but MLB is 150+ more games to listen to. And just how many games can you listen to at the same time? Plus, I'm usually in front of a TV on Sunday. I could care less about Stern and the NBA. And I've got my subscription locked in at $9.99!

You need a clea unobstructed view to the sky, and the smaller the antenna is, the clearer a signal it needs. I got a home kit for my XM with this larger antenna that works anywhere in the house, so I bring in my radio from the car and play it through my stereo. I think both XM and Sirius' travel kits are gonna be poor in reception for another few years.
The Poojer Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 i had originally heard a release of Late July for the walk-around style and a few people here have the models, but they are buyers so they can get them early. I assume within a few weeks, as I am the one that sets up pricing for this class of product and I have not seen any pricing info to cut PO's. I am certain end of august will see something. I will update whenI can I was typing my last post at the same time as yours. Have you heard the timeframe for when Sirius will be debuting this receiver? Thanks! 393219

Puhonix Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 How much did the home kit/larger antenna run you? 393258 I think it was something like $30 for an antenna, power supply, and remote control for my Roady 2. The Roady (sold seperately) comes with the car kit and is selling now for $49. I know cause I just bought a second one for my GF, and she pays under $50 and I had to pay $130 when I got mine. Roady 2 Home Kit 393261 That's decent. I wonder if the home kit is compatible with the handheld walkman. I have an Acura and the car came with XM, so it is not a detachable face. So obviously I wouldn't need to purchase the Roady. If the walkman worked in my house and I didn't have to hold up the antenna, I would've loved it. It was great listening to the games (even if I was listening to the Tigers). Perhaps I should just get the stereo and the Roady face like you did...

There's a walkman adapter for the Roady2 that has the built in antenna on the top of the headphones. That makes it slightly easier to aim, but being inside is still difficult. The Roady is so versatile that its perfect for everything: Inside with the home kit, my GF uses it in her classroom of toddlers with the home kit, and we both use it in the car with the included car kit, and when on the go and outside, the walkman kit is perfect... but I cannot find it online. I know it exists, I've seen it before!
spidey Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I would love to get Sirius for the NFL package this way I can listen to games on way home from golf course, I just cant convince my wife since her answer has been, why not just Tivo the game and use catch up to watch the game. Doesnt she realize that I can only affect the outcome of the game if I am watching/listening in real time. Any recommendations?
jarthur31 Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 If one has an account with Sirius, how does one tune in via their website?
Just Jack Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm torn on whether to sign up for SIRIUS or XM radio. I would be using it primarily for sports radio (NFL).....any suggestions on which has the better package? 393234 If you want it primarily for the NFL, then Sirius is the way to go. The have an exculsive contrat with the NFL for all games, plus the 24/7 NFL channel.
Just Jack Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 If one has an account with Sirius, how does one tune in via their website? 393427 You can only get the music channels through the website.
