GG Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 From today's WSJ: In the online travel world, one of the biggest battles for new customers has come down to this: Captain Kirk vs. Captain Picard. Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," is the new company spokesman for travel search engine SideStep. That's a direct challenge to rival Priceline.com, whose ads have long featured William Shatner, Captain Kirk on the original "Star Trek." The celebrity showdown reflects the growing rift within online travel. Traditional online travel sites -- like Priceline, which invented "name-your-own-price" online travel bidding technology -- ruled the dot-com era. Newer travel search engines, like SideStep, now scan the Web and claim to retrieve the best deals with no surcharge to the user. SideStep enlisted Mr. Stewart because "he literally represents the next big thing. We can play off Priceline and the original captain of the Enterprise," says Phil Carpenter, a SideStep spokesman.
IDBillzFan Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why would I use a service that is promoted by a guy who slept with Whoopi Goldberg?
FTW_BillsFan Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 From today's WSJ: 390502 OMG, that's hilarious...
RuntheDamnBall Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Let me be the first to say: NNNNEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSS.
Reuben Gant Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why would I use a service that is promoted by a guy who slept with Whoopi Goldberg? 390580 For the same reason you would use one promoted by a fellow that slept with Murphy Brown.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 There is no contest. Much the same as Leeeeroy Jenkins, Kirk pwns Picard.
/dev/null Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Picard 390686 Kirk. 390711 Picard
Reuben Gant Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Riker 390770 Janeway could kick Riker's ass.
Reuben Gant Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Christopher Pike 390772 Wasn't he the vegetable with the YES/NO box?
Crap Throwing Monkey Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Wasn't he the vegetable with the YES/NO box? 390774 Hey, the man was crippled by delta rays in a warp drive accident. Let's see how well you fare when that happens to you...
EC-Bills Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Picard 390686 It's Kirk, you nancy boy!
/dev/null Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Christopher Pike 390772 Picard > Pike > Kirk Picard > Pike is my opinion. Pike > Kirk is a proven fact, as First Officer Spock took over the Enterprise from Captain Kirk to help former Captain Pike Picards First Officer on the other hand, William Riker once disobeyed an Admiral to help Picard save the Enterprise
/dev/null Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Wasn't he the vegetable with the YES/NO box? 390774 The actor who played the vegetable with a Yes/No box in that episode gave a better performance than William Shattner
