Bellychick may be biting off more than he can chew

Bill Belichick

It's crucial for Belichick to understand the importance of maintaining a good relationship with your quarterback now that he's calling the offense. I think he'll miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, who spent a lot of time fine-tuning the New England Patriots' offense with Tom Brady.

I haven't seen a lot of coaches be successful when the quarterback didn't feel he could reach out and communicate on a regular basis. Belichick has never really been a guy who allows his players to reach out to him. His job will also be more difficult because he'll have to keep an eye on Eric Mangini, who has taken over the defensive coordinator role from the departed Romeo Crennel.

Belichick will be stretched a little thin. He's one of the greatest coaches of all time, but I think, from a personality standpoint, coaching offensive football is totally different from coaching defensive football.

I think Belichick has allowed his ego -- yes, just about every great has an ego -- to block reality. The Pats could lose some close games without an OC this year.

plus they are missing bruschi the cheater, and ty law, and is seymor still holding out?

anyways i should just put it into my sig, pats = 7-9 this year

i thaught ty law's injury was a HUGE setback for them last season. but they still won the SB, with freakin rookie CBs starting.

Bruschi isnt a cheater, (do you know something i dont??), and him sitting out is a HUGE hit. but they do have good backups. not to mention a good FA signing at LB.

i sure hope everyone is holding out. i just dont want them to win the SB AGAIN.

The kingdom is starting to crumple   :D  :D

Crumple--I like the sound of that!

1 : to press, bend, or crush out of shape : RUMPLE

2 : to cause to collapse

intransitive senses

1 : to become crumpled

2 : COLLAPSE

Yeah, now that's the ticket! ;)

The Pats vs Colts game (not sure if it was last year or two years ago), where Bruschi just happened to get injured (to stop the Colts offense from rolling), only to come back a play later and make the game-winning tackle at the 1 then run all around the stadium like he was never hurt.

Remember people faking injuries to slow down the no-huddle? Same thing.

Of course, it might've been a different Pats player, not Bruschi, but I'm pretty sure it was Tedi.

Ahh yes, a strategy used nicely by another "great" coach, Belicheck's mentor the Tuna.

I think Belicheck's real problem will be the decomposing sweatshirt he wears for every game. That thing has got to be getting pretty rank by now.

Well, maybe rtconner can explain why Tedi's a cheater then. I'm out of ideas ;)

it was definitely mcginest.

Tedi is a stand up guy. Everything I've seen about him as a player and person is nothing but quality. Just cuz he's a patsy doesn't make him evil.

If Dallas doesn't win some games this year or next, you have to wonder if Belichek was the brains behind all of Tuna's previous teams.

Maybe the same is true for Weis & Romeo, but I doubt it. Everyone is itching to say "I told you so" if they don't win it again, which is a bit ridiculous since nobody has ever won 4 in 5 years.

Yeah, he's a guy I respect. If somebody stripped the ball from the Bills and ran it in for a score, who would you rather it be: Teddie Bruschi or Brian Cox?
