Mr. Sparkle Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ron MacLean has a "funny feeling" the Sabres will get Crosby. Its not much, but I'll take it. link Looks like the lottery is this Thursday (July 21). I haven't heard if it will be televised, but the NHL would be insane not to.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Lets hope so...I would crap myself with him and Vanek on the same team.

The chances of it being aired, on say ESPN or something, are non-existent! Still, it would be pretty incredible if the Sabres somehow got Crosby....get 'er done TD!!!!
Like A Mofo Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Even though I am a big Sabres fan, to me this who lotto system is stupid....how can anyone justify perennial playoff teams should get a crack at the #1 overal pick....shoot I dont even think the Sabres should have one of the best chances to get the pick.

They haven't made the playoffs since 2000-01 and that's saying alot in the NHL where everybody makes the playoffs.
SilverNRed Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Lets hope so...I would crap myself with him and Vanek on the same team. 383759 I just want to see Derek Roy play again.

Besides, you have to give the large market teams SOMETHING. Some of them are gonna have to give up half their roster in the new, more socialist NHL. It's only fair that they get at least a 1 in 48 chance of landing Crosby.

(I don't think people will mind too much if they tape-delayed Degrassi High in favor of the NHL lottery.)

TigerJ Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 The NHL would love to have all the TV exposure they can get. The question is, who can they find that will give it to them.

MadBuffaloDisease Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Hey it's nice to hear that someone thinks that Crosby will go to Buffalo. But unless he can help that along, it means little. It's (supposedly) a random drawing.
BigdaddyinOrlando Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 As much as it would be awesome with Crosby in Buffalo, You gotta think he will wind up with the Rangers in a scene remminessent of Ewing and the Knicks!!! I thinke the fix is in sad to say.

I thinke the fix is in sad to say. 383836 I don't see how it could be a fix. And I resent all the haters out there who claim this. The fact is the Rangers are one of four teams including Buffalo that have a slightly better chance of getting him. If you can actually call just over 6 pct a chance. Which is why this whole lottery is a bunch of mularkey. Watch the Devils, Wings, Flyers or Leafs get him.
SilverNRed Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I don't see how it could be a fix. 383840 Easy, just make some of the balls weigh less than others.
Smoker2Buffalo Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I would be astonished if it wasn't televised. I would bet ESPN would televise the press conference, where they break down how the new CBA works. If worse comes to worst, I'm sure one of the Canadian stations will have it. And to think of the Sabres getting Crosby. That would be incredible.
Golden Wheels Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I don't see how it could be a fix. 383840 You're absolutely correct! How could we possibly underestimate the integrity of the NHL?!? After all when they have a rule -- like that in-the-crease business -- well, by cracky, they enforce it to the letter no matter what the situation! I have complete faith in Gary Bettman! Now excuse me, but the men in the white coats are here to take me home.
