JoeF Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Steve Karsay. 383837 Collecting multiple millions for spending 2 years on the DL and then getting blown up in just about every appearance...I am shocked you would think this...... This is a fun thread Astro...thanks!
BuffOrange Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Punter isn't a bad choice. Unless Bledsoe's on your team, in which case you're underpaid for the amount of work you do.
swede316 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 You have to run the scout team, which means lots of film study and preperation. There is work involved other than on Sundays. True, but lets not forget...It's a game! You get paid to play a game.
ganesh Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 in the words of the immortal John McLaughlin....WRONG!!! the position that earns the most money for least effort is in fact... Brett Favre's backup 383737 or Peyton Mannings current backup, our own Travis Brown.... BTW I think from a position perspective it has to be the 3rd string QB especially if he is a 4+ year veteran like a shane mathews...He gets at least 400K for carrying a clipboard.
nick in* england Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 or Peyton Mannings current backup, our own Travis Brown.... They call that crap sports. They barely burn a calorie flipping cards and looking placid. I bet they could actually GAIN WEIGHT by playing poker it's such a lethargic 'sport'. AND the guy who won WSOP netted $7m Dollars for less than 7 days work. THAT's got to be our winner.
/dev/null Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Poker players.... 383944 if poker players are athletes, what about NASCAR drivers get into car move right foot turn wheel get out of car make a couple mil
ch19079 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ooompapamowmow, I thought about the DH first, actually. But a DH's season is longer by at least ten dozen, and his caloric effort (swinging the bat approx. 24 times per game) is higher. 383709 but a DH in baseball can make SEVERAL times that of a football punter.
Astrobot Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Activity Calculator Here's a good activity calculator. Put in the "athlete's" weight and duration in minutes, and it shows calories burned in those minutes. Tyson 89 seconds=1.5 minutes, weight 250 Boxing in Ring=45 calories
Dan Gross Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ummm..... Poker is not a sport. 384005 But but it's on ESPN, and it requires skill, so it has to be a sport...
swede316 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ahhhhhhhh...I was waiting for that...the E stands for Entertainment...Poker falls unde rthe E.
nick in* england Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ahhhhhhhh...I was waiting for that...the E stands for Entertainment...Poker falls unde rthe E. 384014 I challenge that ruling!
swede316 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ok Nck...I consider sports hunting, rugby, football (American and and that gay ass soccer), baseball, etc...Games (entertainment) are monopoly, cards, chess. Athletic competition is sport...games are entertainment.
ch19079 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 But but it's on ESPN, and it requires skill, so it has to be a sport... 384009 its more of a sport than golf, or bowling. i think for it to be a sport, the other player has to, in some way, effect your play. golf you are playing yourself. (and whoever beats themselves the best wins), and bowling is the same. poker takes skill and tallent. and you are competing agenst other people.
