Jax never made that offer. It was a reporter talking to the Jags after the deal was made and they told him we would have gone as high as a second rounder. According to the report, they never actually offered the Bills a #2.

Whatever the offer or proposed offer, I seriously doubt it would have been a straight-up 2nd rounder, unless/until Taylor proved he couldn't play, which is probably a little ways away And given their stable of RB's and Travis' history of injuries, unless the conditions were low, meeting them would have been difficult.

Why help out Jax, Henry did all he could do here. Let him play for the titans. Jacksonville and the bills will be competing for the playoffs not the titans.

Double-edged sword. If we were more technologically advanced, then we wouldn't have any wagons to circle!

Maybe......"nobody circles the training camp golf carts like the Buffalo Bills"

I agree. Nobody was going to offer Buffalo a straight up 2nd round pick for

someone they were going to loose after this year to FA anyway.

Jax, says they were to up the offer??? But "BUFFALO" didnt return a call?? WTF?

Now you actually believe that Jax would offer a 2nd round pick only a few days after the lowest they would go was a 4th?

If you do...I have some nice land to sell you in New Jersey near the Meadowlands.

.....a "league source said so"

Relax. TD isn't that stupid to not consider this offer if it was genuine. Don't read everything you hear.

I dunno but I think that Titans may have proposed that very deal to us and we snatched it up right away. Just a feeling.

SOunds like Buffalo has issues with returning calls in general.  SOunds familiar to to when Jonas Jennings and Pat WIlliams hit the exits.  Their calls were mysteriously never returned...

Donahoe is the freakin man. He puts his offer out there, tells the player it's the organizations best offer and let's the player decide. I can just see how the whole Jonas Jennings thing went.

August 3, 2004.

Tom Donahoe: Listen Jonas we are interested in resigning you. Here is our offer. 7 Years, 24 million dollars.

Jonas Jennings: I'll get back to you.

January 3rd, 2004

Jonas Jennings: I want 7 years 35 million.

Tom Danahoe. *door slams*

The only thing we know as fans is that we get a 3rd round pick for Travis, past that the rest is blind speculation. Even if the Jaguars eventually would have shelled out a 2 how can we know for sure about that, and how do we know any details about the Titans position?

Teams are about to head into camp, and it's possible the Titans threw down a take it or leave it 3rd for Henry. If your TD you can either accept the price you been asking for all along or continue to wait. The longer you hold your cards the more possibilities arise, but that doesn't mean those possibilities are all positive.

What if fragile Freddy does recover or the Titans grow impatient with our games? Just like in cards the chance for a better hand does exist, but so does the chance at busting. In the end we took the safe route and still got more value then most experts thought we could get.

I'm not one of the people exclaiming TD is a miracle worker because of this trade. But at the same time I find it difficult to find anything wrong with the move.

If Jax did offer a 2nd and TD didn't return the call, it was just payback to Jax for sticking us in the Rob Johnson deal.

Anyways, a 3rd for Henry, who is going to a non-playoff contender is a good deal for the Bills. No headaches when Training Camp starts and no incessant radio talk and news articles about Henry and his holdout. Bills got something for nothing and cleared some cap space. Henry will probably get hurt getting off the plane in Nashville.

There is no way no how Jax was delivering a 2nd to Buffalo. No way. No how.

This is all after-the-fact CYA for the benefit of the Jacksonville market.

And the good thing is that it's the gift that keeps on giving. Now when they try to trade with another team for their RB, they'll get "Well, we heard you would have given the Bills a second for Henry. Based on that, here's what we think our guy's worth."
