when news of an important old guy going to the hospital with failing health, one can only recall the final months of pope john paul ii. I don't mean to politicize this thread or anything, but maybe there's a reason (i.e. you have 1-3 months to live) why he didn't resign at the end of the court session. Just thought more people would read this here than in PPP. get well soon william reinquest.

Rumor has it that he was going to announce his retirement at the end of last week. That was, until the London bombings. He probably did not do it earlier for fear of taking over the spotlight from O'Connor.

I share your wishes for his health. Whatever your stripe, the justices are very intelligent people, with a heavy weight on their shoulders. Renquist wrote a book several years ago - it's a good read and an insight into our Nation and the development of our socitial mores.
